All Gorechimera Locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here's are all Dragon's Dogma 2 Gorechimera locations so that you can farm Black Freakish Manes.

All bosses have a special enhanced version of them that appears in the late-game, especially in the Unmoored World. The Chimera boss’ elite version is called the Gorechimera, and it drops some crucial late-game enhancement material, the Black Freakish Mane. Here are all Gorechimera locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Where are Gorechimera in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Gorechimeras are the black-furred versions of a regular Chimera with increased stats and more dangerous spellcasting options with the Goat head. They drop Black Freakish Manes, which are used in late-game enhancements. You either have to be of a high enough level or in the Unmoored World for them to spawn. Here are 7 Gorechimera locations I found:

  • Waterfall Cave (Pre-Unmoored World): A Gorechimera can spawn in the Waterfall cave east of Melve in the main watery dome section.
  • Outside of Vernworth (Unmoored World): I had one Gorechimera spawn for me outside of Vernworth in the Unmoored World.
  • West of the Sacred Arbor Ruins (Unmoored World): While a base Chimera spawns in front of the ruins in the base game, a Gorechimera can spawn just a little bit to the west of the ruins in the Unmoored World.
  • South-west of Bakbattahl (Unmoored World): This one is southwest of Bakbattahl, just above where you cross the bridge to go to Dragonsbreath Tower in the base game.
  • Near Volcanic Island Portcrystal (Unmoored Word): This one is between Bakbattahl and the Volcanic Island Camp, just a little to the east of the Volcanic Island main portcrystal.
  • West of Checkpoint Rest Town (Unmoored World): Head west of Checkpoint Rest Town toward the original Sphinx location. You’ll encounter one at the crossroads to the cave.
  • South-west of Checkpoint Rest Town (Unmoored World): Either descend from the Sphinx location or go south-west from Checkpoint Rest Town to reach the location in the picture.

There might be one or two more undiscovered Gorechimera locations, but these are the main ones I found to farm Black Freakish Manes for upgrades. If I find more, I’ll update my guide and let you guys know.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gorechimera Tips

What makes Gorechimeras much more dangerous is that you can’t disable their spellcasting by killing the goat head. Instead, I highly recommend focusing on the lion’s head to prevent powerful melee attacks. Then, move on to the snake head to eliminate all attacks except the slow spellcasting by the goat head. This makes the Gorechimera easy to finish off.

Killing one drops Black Freakish Manes, which are used in a lot of Tier 3 recipes for weapons and armor. Once you get Tier 3 gear in any enhancement style, you can now turn that gear piece into its Wyrmfire version, which is the best gear in the game.

That’s it for my guide on all Gorechimera locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2. For more Dragon’s Dogma 2 guides, check out our endgame checklist as well as how to complete Halls of the First Dawn.
