Among the many choices available to players in Inquisition, is deciding which companion to have their character romance. While there are flirtatious chat options with almost every companion in the game, the Inquisitor can only have a romantic relationship with certain characters. Also, unlike the characters you could romance in Dragon Age 2, the characters of Inquisition all have their own preferences and some are only interested in Inquisitors of a certain gender or race.

If you don’t want to waste your time flirting with characters, only to find out that your Inquisitor can’t have a romantic relationship with them, then take a look at this list of all possible romances in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and how to find each character.

Female Inquisitors Only

Blackwall

Blackwall is a proud member of the Grey Wardens, a group of warriors who fight darkspawn. He wanders Thedas, in search of others who will join the Grey Wardens, and helping those in need. Any female Inquisitor can romance him.

Where to Find Him: He’s in the Hinterlands, and can only be found if you choose to do the quest “The Lone Warden.” The quest is given by Leliana, after returning from the main story quest in Val Royeaux.

Cullen

Cullen is a former Templar who made appearances in both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, Cullen is not a companion but an advisor to the Inquisitor, and he represents the soldiers of the Inquisition. He makes sure the Inquisition’s forces are properly trained, and offers an option for soldier support during certain missions. He is only a romance option for female human and elven Inquisitors.

Where to Find Him: Cullen is an advisor, and essential to the main story. You can find him in Haven, the main base of the Inquisition, as soon as you get there.

Sera

Sera is an elven archer who plays by her own rules. She is one of the members of the Friends of Red Jenny, a group of rogues mentioned a few times in the other Dragon Age games. She is only interested in a romance with a female Inquisitor.

Where to Find Her: The Inquistor can meet Sera by completing the “Friends of Red Jenny” quest, in Val Royeaux.

Solas

Solas is an elven mage, and an apostate. He is also an expert on the Fade, as he spends a lot of his time there. His knowledge of the Fade helps him offer advice to the Inquisitor on how to deal with the rifts opening throughout the world. He is only interested in romance with female elven Inquisitors.

Where to Find Him: One of the first companions to join the Inquisition, you find both Solas and Varric when you travel with Cassandra to close the first rift.

Male Inquisitors Only

Cassandra Pentaghast

Cassandra Pentaghast is a member of the Nevarran royal family, and a Seeker of the Chantry. She first appeared in Dragon Age 2, when she interrogated Varric to find out what started the battle between mages and Templars in Kirkwalll. She is a romance option character for any male Inquisitor.

Where to Find Her: Cassandra is by the Inquisitor’s side from the beginning, and at first suspects that the Inquisitor is responsible for the Breach that is allowing demons to enter the world.

Dorian Pavus

Dorian is a mage from Tevinter, and former apprentice to Magister Alexius, an important character the Inquisitor meets in Redcliffe. Dorian opposes the rule of mages and subjugation of others in his homeland. He is a romance option for any male Inquisitor.

Where to Find Him: You can find Dorian during the main story quest “In Hushed Whispers,” in the Hinterlands.

Both Female and Male Inquisitors

Iron Bull

The Iron Bull is a Qunari and leader of the mercenary group, the Bull’s Chargers. He is also a spy for the Qunari group known as Ben-Hassrath, but is up front about this with the Inquisitor when they first meet. He is a romance option for an Inquisitor of any race or gender.

Where to Find Him: You can find the Iron Bull in the Storm Coast area, during “The Captain of the Chargers” quest.

Josephine Montilyet

Josephine is a friend of Leliana, who asked her to lend her talents to the Inquisition. She is an Antivan noble, and acts as an advisor to the Inquisitor. She mainly deals with connections, relying on convincing others to help solve problems for the Inquisition. She is a romance option for an Inquisitor of any race or gender.

Where to Find Her: Like Cullen, Josephine is an advisor for the Inquisition. You meet her when you go to the War Room in Haven.
