How to Romance Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3

Shadowheart is a cleric who worships Shar, and you can save her on the Nautiloid for extra approval by completing “Rescue the Illithid Captive.” Briefly, Shadowheart approves of the following sorts of behaviors:

  • Being kind to those you come across.
  • Talking your way out of potentially dangerous situations.
  • Disagreeing with Lae’zel or Gith in general.

On the flip side of this coin, Shadowheart disapproves of the following sorts of actions:

  • Agreeing with Lae’zel or Gith in general.
  • Lying to or pressuring her.
  • Taking part in unnecessary violence.

Romancing Shadowheart in Act 1

First, you’ll want to gain approval with Shadowheart which you can do by being kind, helping the oppressed, and being open to her worship of Shar. If your relationship with her is high enough, you can speak with her during the celebration at Camp after rescuing Halsin and choose the following options to unlock the first romance scene with her.

  • Refugees?
  • Are you worried Shar won’t approve?
  • I’d be glad to.
  • I’ll find you after everyone’s turned in for the night.

Once you click your bedroll, you’ll have another cutscene with Shadowheart and dialogue options to choose during it. As long as you don’t pick the bottom options, you’ll get the chance to kiss her. The key is showing interest rather than seeming like you’re in a rush to end your night together.

Romancing Shadowheart in Act 2

Then, you move onto Act 2, which has no shortage of story moments for Shadowheart, but not romance scenes for her. Still, you need to go through her quest, which lines up with the main quests, and make the decision to kill or save Nightsong. Both options will allow you to get to the final romance scene later.

Romancing Shadowheart in Act 2

In Act 3, you don’t have to do much other than continue her quests. Shadowheart will then have an exclamation point over her head during one of your Long Rests, and the portion during which this triggers will vary. Speak with her and follow the same path in dialogue as you did earlier by showing interest and going along with her. The dialogue and scene will be different depending on your choice at the end of Act 2.

And that is the last intimate scene, making this the end of our Shadowheart romance guide for Baldur’s Gate 3. However, there’s a lot to explore in Act 3 and you can use our BG3 guide hub to learn about topics like how to get to the House of Hope or how to use Divine Intervention.
