How to Fix Battlefield 2042 Not Launching

Update Your Graphics Card Drivers

Follow these instructions to update Nvidia graphics drivers:

  1. Download the latest Nvidia graphics drivers from the official website.
  2. Start the installation process.
  3. Restart your PC when finished.

Follow these instructions to update ATI Radeon graphics drivers:

  1. Download the latest ATI Radeon graphics drivers from the official website.
  2. Start the installation process.
  3. Restart your PC when finished.

Repair Your EA App

One of the most common issues after the Season 6 update that prevents players from launching Battlefield 2042 is the validating loop, which I was able to fix using this method:

  1. Go to the EA app for Windows webpage.
  2. Select the “Download EA App” option.
  3. Install the EA app from your hard drive.
  4. You’ll see a message notifying you that you already have the EA app installed.
  5. Select “Repair” on the pop-up window to start the recovery process.

If you don’t want to reinstall your EA app, then simply do the following:

  1. Launch theEA app.
  2. Click the “|||” (three dashes) in the top left corner.
  3. Go to the “Help” tab.
  4. Select the “App Recovery” option.
  5. Confirm by pressing the “Clear Cache” button.

Clear Steam Cache Files

The previous problem may be directly connected to the Steam cached files, as well, so it would be a good idea to clear them. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Launch the Steam app.
  2. Click the “Steam” button in the upper left corner of the screen.
  3. Select the “Settings” option.
  4. Go to the “Downloads” tab.
  5. Click the “Clear Download Cache” button.

Verify the Integrity of Game Files

A simple verification of your game files can easily solve any possible issues with the game not launching:

  1. Start the Steam app.
  2. Select the “Library” tab.
  3. Right-click on the Battlefield 2042 game.
  4. Select “Properties” from the list.
  5. Go to the “Installed Files” tab.
  6. Select the “Verify Integrity of Game Files” feature.

Update Battlefield 2042

EA consistently releases new patches that fix minor bugs, so be sure to keep your game updated at all times:

  1. Launch the Steam app.
  2. Select the “Library” tab.
  3. Right-click on the Battlefield 2042 game.
  4. Select “Properties” from the list.
  5. Select the “Updates” tab.

Temporarily Turn off Antivirus and Firewall

Lastly, temporarily turn off your Windows Defender or any other third-party antivirus. But don’t forget to turn it back on after you’ve done playing:

  1. Press the Start button.
  2. Go to the “Settings” tab.
  3. Select the “Update and Security” feature.
  4. Go to the “Windows Security” tab.
  5. Select the “Virus and Threat Protection” feature.
  6. Go to the “Manage Settings” option.
  7. Set the real-time protection to OFF.

You may also temporarily disable the Windows firewall:

  1. Press the Start button.
  2. Go to the “Settings” tab.
  3. Select the “Update and Security” feature.
  4. Go to the “Windows Security” tab.
  5. Select the “Firewall and Windows Protection” feature.
  6. Open “Windows Security” settings.
  7. Switch the Microsoft Defender Firewall option OFF.
