How to Get FR 556 in CoD MW3

The FR 556 assault rifle doesn’t become available in the game until you reach player level 25. Once you cross that threshold, you need to do the following:

  1. Go to the “Armory Unlock Challenges” menu.
  2. Check the list for specific challenges for FR 556 (a total of 8 challenges).
  3. Complete the three daily challenges that specifically unlock the FR 556 rifle.

Best Class Setup for FR 556

My research shows that most players use the FR 556 rifle in stealthy builds that require a specific class setup, including the following features:

  • Secondary Weapon: TYR Handgun.
  • Vest: CCT Comms Vest.
  • Gloves: Scavenger Gloves.
  • Boots: Stalker Boots.
  • Camo: Ghost T/V Camo.
  • Best Perks: Ghost, Scavenger, Lightweight.
  • Equipment: Munitions Box.

The best and most essential element of this class setup is the Ghost T/V Camo, which makes you invisible to enemy radars. It synergizes with the Ghost perk, which completely removes your ping from the mini-map. Both of these features can be unlocked by reaching level 25.

I also urge you to equip the Scavenger Gloves, which will allow you to collect ammo from the dead enemies, and the Stalker Boots, which are perfect for strafing and allow you to move quickly from side to side and avoid enemy shots.

Lastly, you’ll need the Munitions Box for multiplayer purposes, as you can leave it in a safe place for your squad to return and resupply ammo when you need it the most.

Best Attachments for FR 556

  • Muzzle: RF Crown 50.
  • Barrel: 600MM FR Longbore.
  • Underbarrel: FTAC RIPPER 65.
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Dot.
  • Ammunition: High Velocity.
  • Stock: RB Addle Assault Stock.
  • Rear Grip: SA ION.

The most important attachment here is the 600MM FR Longbore barrel, which specifically improves the accuracy of the long-range shots. Since that’s the main goal of equipping the FR 556 weapon, you really can’t go without it.

I also highly recommend the FTAC RIPPER 65 underbarrel, which grants further aiming control and stability that are so essential for long-range shooting. If you engage in midrange combat, it can be useful for boosting your hip-fire accuracy and reducing recoil.

Another important thing that you need to be aware of is gun kick control. This is a feature that pushes your weapon upward during the follow-up shots. If you wish to take this element under control, then be sure to equip the RB Addle Assault Stock too.

Lastly, if you engage in situations that require you to support a sustained fire without any pauses, then you should also consider the SA ION rear grip, which is also good for reducing recoil during short burst fire engagements.

That’s it for our best FR 556 loadout build in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Stay tuned for more CoD MW3 tips and tricks articles right here.
