Namely, it was about customizing your console on the cheap, and I gave information as evidence and proof on my own purchases, just for this article series! Yes, I am not rich, but bloody hell I’m even paying to renovate my console, just for you guys! That’s dedication! But of course, after this swift recap, what kind of INS4NE nutjob would I be, if I didn’t do something spontaneous?
Last week I informed you of how I bought the new skin for my Xbox, a new controller just to modify and finally, a ventilation stand. Furthermore, I have applied this console skin, and I will tell you it looks like a brand new bloody Xbox! It is sitting in the corner right now, winking at me with that big On button like some sort of tantalizing judgmental cyclops eye with a rather nice sheen to it.
This blighter looks a lot more than the price I paid for it, thanks to the application of a large £9 Vinyl Sticker. It even has that new plastic smell now.

My Silicon console skins have not arrived in the post yet. However they are coming from the mystical land of Hong Kong. Would you believe it my old controller has mystically appeared, so although I have two stickers from the pack to apply to the controllers in order to have them look like my console, I don’t think I will apply them just yet!
Finally, although the vent has not arrived, the controller has. Which leads me to the next part of the console. Sure, I have covered console skins but I have not even touched on controllers.
So perhaps the idea of covering your controller is a little whatever, although I add perilously, I shall modify my next controller. So, I am going to aim at a target. Lets say £15. That sounds feasible for something like a controller, No?
I will begin with this disclaimer:
I enforce the fact that controllers can be modified for personal use, but I do not condone, in any way, shape or form, the modification of a controller beyond comfort and aesthetics. I have no respect for the modification of controllers such as rapid fire modifications, or anything that gives one gamer the edge over another!
The Look
This consists of skins (covered previously in fore-mentioned link). This consists of buttons, and finally, this consists of the possibility of paints, vinyls, and L.E.D’s for the adventurous.
If you don’t want to risk damaging your controller, don’t bother reading on, Just buy a cheap skin for about £2 on Ebay–pull it over your controller, and enjoy that silicon skins enhanced grip and jazzy look!

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons.
Don’t overlook these devilish little blighters, they are an asset to console gaming. Period. They have always been in our consoles and controllers. So, here are a few ideas.
These cost $15. Pfft, I’m doing more with my money. Modify, a company on eBay, deals in this sort of thing. And the stuff they do is quite good. They look reputable and for a dollar or two, I can get controller LED’s in multiple colors.
There’s just a few above. Plenty more colors to choose from!
Then we go nuts on buttons. literally a case of open your controller, replace the buttons, and re-seal it. Boom. Modded. With what you dare ask? This:
There are, again, heaps upon heaps of buttons sets. These are sold on Ebay at £2 each, free postage, first class. I’ll also add that you need a torque 8 screwdriver or alan key to get into your controller to do any internal work. It gets better–below are center buttons for xbox 360 controllers. Very personalized. And for no more than £3.
And the best thing? Look down….
…Then I went crazy, bought this simply because I could. I like shiny things made of bullets inside of my controller so I can press buttons made of bullets to fire bullets at other players on Xbox live firing bullets at me on my Xbox with a skin that has it covered in bullets.
The picture is a link, by the way. To the Ebay page, where I bought these buttons and thumb sticks for my bullet themed controller for £12.50. Again, well within my budget. I have £2.50 left, I could buy one of the controller LED’s if I wanted too, but I won’t. Not yet.
So. There are my controller mods, all under £15.
