Burn enemies with volcanic fire by wielding the Krakatoa Legendary Axe in Dead Island 2. Here's how to get it.

The Krakatoa Legendary Axe is a formidable weapon in Dead Island 2. Part of the fire axe category, it more than matches its namesake, as well as its classification. Below, we’ll tell you how to get with our Missing Persons: Steve walkthrough. We’ll also list the Krakatoa’s mods and perks.

How to Get the Krakatoa Legendary Axe in Dead Island 2

To get the Krakatoa Legendary Axe, you’ll need to complete Missing: Steve. This is one of DI2‘s Missing Persons quests, which is categorized as a Lost and Found mission. However, that objective won’t appear right from the get-go, so you’ll need to progress further in the game before receiving it.

Missing Persons quests will only show up on the board in the Ocean Avenue — Serling Hotel safe zone. There are several of these, and you’ll receive three at a time. As such, you’ll need to complete at least six of these tasks before Missing: Steve pops up.

Missing: Steve Quest — Monarch Studios

Here’s what you need to do once you have the Missing: Steve quest in Dead Island 2. First, track the quest so that markers appear on your map and compass. Next, go to Monarch Studios’ Stage 3. Inside, examine the props in the bedroom and kitchen areas.

If you can’t get this objective to show up, then there’s probably another sidequest that’s interfering with this task, such as the quest chain for The One Legendary sword.

In any case, you’ll have to visit a trailer near one of the other stages. Inside, kill Sergio and pick up his phone.

Missing: Steve Quest — Beverly Hills

After finishing the above objectives, head to Beverly Hills. You’ll find Steve on the balcony of his apartment building. He wants you to find three “characters” for his epic saga. These are just different zombies in the area, which are all marked:

  • Villain — Vicious Butcher
  • Hunk — Inferno Crusher
  • Hero — Firefighter Walker

When you see each one of these zombies, do not kill them yet. Instead, lure them one at a time to Steve’s patio. Wait until you see the prompt telling you to eliminate them.

After all three targets are dead, Steve will give you your prize. This will complete the Dead Island 2 Missing Steve quest, netting you the Krakatoa Legendary Axe.

Krakatoa Legendary Axe Mods and Perks

Here are the mods and perks for the Krakatoa:

  • Mod: Superior Melee Cremator: The weapon inflicts fire damage and gains a major damage boost; successive hits apply the ignited effect.
  • Perk: Vampire: Killing a zombie grants a chance to regain health.
  • Fixed Perk #1: Reaper: Hitting an ignited zombie primes the weapon; when primed, heavy attacks deal additional fire and limb damage (can stack multiple times).
  • Fixed Perk #2: Tear ‘N Sear: Maiming a zombie creates a pool of burning fuel beneath its feet.

As you can see, the Krakatoa has scorching effects that emphasize the use of fire damage. With successive hits and maiming, you’ll cause an inferno to spread that engulfs unwary hostiles.

And that’s how you get the Krakatoa Legendary Axe in Dead Island 2. To learn about the other powerful endgame armaments, you can check our Legendary weapons hub. Likewise, for more about Hell-A, you can visit our other Dead Island 2 guides.
