Is Helldivers 2 Cross Platform?

As with the original, Helldivers 2 depends on its online co-op to function. And many players are wondering if there’s crossplay. Joining a friend’s sessions cross platform would be a huge boon to playerbase’s longevity. So, does Helldivers 2 have crossplay and cross progression?

Does Helldivers 2 Have Crossplay?

Helldivers 2 has crossplay and will launch with it on release. The game features cross-platform play between PlayStation 5 and the PC version on Steam. You can join your friend’s session on console or vice versa. That said, there are some requirements you must be aware of:

• For PS5 Users: You must have a PlayStation Plus subscription to play Helldivers 2 online, so you’ll have to purchase one of the three available packages. I have the lowest tier, and it does just fine.
• For PC Users: To set up crossplay for your PC Steam account, create a free PlayStation Network account and link it to your Steam.

After completing those two steps, create a lobby and invite friends through their PSN ID or Steam username. The co-op system supports up to four players in a drop-in, drop-out style of hosting.

Does Helldivers 2 Have Cross Progression?

While Helldivers 2 supports crossplay, we don’t know if it supports cross progression. This essentially means that the progress you make on PC is carried over to your PS5 account and vice versa. While you may need to purchase two copies of Helldivers, this feature seems likely, since you’ll link your Steam account to your PS5. However, I should point out that cross-progression isn’t officially confirmed by the developers yet.

That answers whether or not Helldivers 2 has crossplay and cross progression — for now. I’ll update this article when we learn more about the latter.
