Expeditions: Rome — Olympian Sidequest Walkthrough & Riddle Answers

You'll go from wrestling to riddles in the Olympian sidequest in Expeditions: Rome. Conquer it with this walkthrough guide.

The Olympian sidequest is just one of many missions that you can complete in Expeditions: Rome. It starts in the Temple of Apollon. Just west of the entrance area, you’ll find a lone NPC named Boethus, and he’s got a problem with Syneros, one of your companions. Oh, and you’ll need to solve some riddles.

This Expeditions: Rome Olympian sidequest guide will lead you through the entire mission from start to end to help you with your decisions and the riddle answers. Not everything is as straightforward as it may seem.

How to Start the Olympian Sidequest in Expeditions: Rome

It looks like Boethus bears a grudge against Syneros; his father was beaten by your trusty advisor during his days as a Pankration gladiator. Boethus wants a fight, but Syneros is already too old.

There are a couple of ways you could avoid a confrontation in the Olympian sidequest. However, we suggest agreeing to a contest and letting Bestia take Syneros’ place. Your aggressive companion will trounce the poor challenger. Still, even the sidequest’s notification tells you that it’s not over yet.

How to Solve the Riddles of Diodoros

The next part of the Olympian sidequest in Expeditions: Rome happens much later. In our experience, this occurred after we conquered multiple regions and finished the section in the Gladiator School.

When we next returned to camp, a man named Diodoros approached us. He’s Boethus’ father, the same man cheated by Syneros in a competition decades ago. He’ll challenge Syneros to a game of riddles, and you should accept.

Several questions will be asked in this part of the Olympian sidequest. If you chose the Logos rhetoric style at the start of the campaign, you’ll have additional responses with the right answers. If not, then you’ll have to get everything right since one mistake will cause the quest to fail. Don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.

Riddle 1 Answer

  • Question: “Two men and two fathers…”
  • Answer: “It can’t be six.”

Riddle 2 Answer

  • Question: “The more you take, the less you have.”
  • Answer: “It can’t be money.”

Riddle 3 Answer

  • Question: “The more you have, the less you see.
  • Answer: “It isn’t money.”

Riddle 4 Answer (Always the Last Question)

  • Question: “How did Alexandros Magas (Alexander the Great) unravel the Gordian Knot?”
  • Answer: “He can’t have pulled on it.”

Answering all the riddles correctly will complete the Olympian sidequest in Expeditions: Rome. You’ll receive the “Citius Altius Fortius” achievement. Even better, Syneros will obtain the Physician trait. This allows him to treat burns, poisons, and infections in the Triage menu.
