Best Characters Tier List in Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis

Here’s a quick breakdown of our tier list guide of the best characters in Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis:

  • S-Tier Characters:
    • Cloud Strife
    • Aerith Gainsborough
    • Barret Wallace
  • A-Tier Characters:
    • Matt Winsord
    • Zack Fair
    • Tifa Lockhart
  • B-Tier Characters:
    • Glenn Lodbrok
    • Lucia Lin
    • Red XIII

S-Tier Characters

Cloud Strife

  • ATK: 34
  • HP: 350

Cloud is the best DPS unit in the game and is focused specifically on dealing with single targets. This means that his main role on any team is to defeat bosses. But he could be used to break any enemy with lots of HP using his Murasame sword with lightning damage, which is the strongest element in the game against almost any type of foe. For boss fights, I’d mostly recommend his Hardedge greatsword, which has greater physical power. Lastly, if you equip him with Crystal Sword, he’ll also be able to heal an entire party.

Aerith Gainsborough

  • ATK: 33
  • HP: 339

If you want to keep Cloud as your main DPS, then you’ll absolutely need Aerith as the party’s main healer. Give her the Fairy Tale staff, and she’ll be able to heal everyone whenever you need it. Of course, she has many other cool magical weapons that deal damage, such as the Wizer Staff and Full Metal Staff, but your party will mostly benefit from her Fairy Tale.

Barret Wallace

  • ATK: 34
  • HP: 356

Barrett is the best tank in the game, and he can also take out other tanky enemies. His secret is his Mindblow debuff ability, which makes your foes weaker and easier to defeat. He’d be a great support to Cloud during boss fights, too. I suggest you start with Barrett using his W Machine weapon, which reduces the boss’s own physical damage, and then let Cloud in to do his dirty job of beating the weakened boss.

A-Tier Characters

Matt Winsord

  • ATK: 33
  • HP: 339

Matt can be a great alternative to either Cloud or Aerith, as he’s got both DPS and healing weapons and abilities. However, he never excels in any of these roles, so consider him a secondary DPS supporter for your team. His two best weapons are Stingray and Prime Number, which are highly flexible and can be very effective in various situations.

Zack Fair

  • ATK: 34
  • HP: 349

Zack is another powerful DPS hero with a massive Zweihander physical sword, which is fantastic against bosses and stronger enemies. But I wouldn’t put him in the same tier as Cloud since he has no healing abilities. Zack is nothing but a pure damage dealer, and that’s a role that requires definite support from the rest of your party.

Tifa Lockhart

  • ATK: 35
  • HP: 348

Tifa has some fantastic debuff abilities and powerful magic weapons that could really help an entire team, although I wouldn’t consider her the main damage dealer on the team. She uses special gloves that can either debuff enemies or deal damage, and the best ones are Tiger Fangs, Crystal Gloves, and Motor Drive.

B-Tier Characters

Glenn Lodbrok

  • ATK: 35
  • HP: 351

Glenn is a half-tank, half-debuffer, but with much more constrained abilities than either Barret or Tifa. Although he has an exceptionally powerful physical weapon called Rest in Peace, you’ll find that it’s not as effective as either Cloud’s Hardedge or Zack’s Zweihander. But I wouldn’t outright dismiss Glenn, as he can serve decently as a secondary DPS on your team.

Lucia Lin

  • ATK: 34
  • HP: 349

Lucia is the only silencer in the game, able to prevent enemies from using their skills. The biggest drawback is that her Black Rifle silence weapon doesn’t work on bosses, and that’s a huge disappointment. Still, she’s got some excellent elemental AoE weapons, such as the Serpent Gun and Pulse Gun.

Red XIII

  • ATK: 34
  • HP: 345

If you look at Red’s abilities, you’ll see that he has everything: physical, magical, and AoE damage, as well as various defense and regen abilities. But, unfortunately, none of them perform nearly as well as any of the character abilities listed above. Can we say that Red is a completely useless character? Absolutely not! But I’d rather invest my hard-earned resources into other characters.
