Football Manager 24: How to Register Players

When you sign a player in Football Manager 24, the next step is to register them for competition. Here’s how to register players and get them on the pitch as soon as possible.

How to Register Players in Football Manager 24

Upon receiving a player in Football Manager 24 — whether through signing them on a free transfer, buying them, or promoting them from within your youth setup — you’ll have to register them for league competition. When the transfer is finalized, you’ll typically see a button leading you straight to the registration menu. However, if you missed it, here’s where to find the menu to register your players:

• Click on Squad.
• Hover over Overview.
• Click Registration.

Once you’ve reached the registration menu, you’ll see all your signed players listed. Next to their names will be a checkmark and X icons. If the player has a checkmark, they’re registered for that competition. If they have an X, they’re not. To register a player, click the checkmark and select Submit at the bottom.

However, there are some caveats. In some leagues, the number of players you can register at one time is limited. There are usually minimum requirements when it comes to registering domestic players as well. If you play in a league with a hard player limit and an emphasis on using domestically trained players, then you’ll have to be extremely calculative when registering your squad. Some teams will also be in multiple competitions, such as the UEFA Champions League, which has its own registration rules.

One last thing: do all of your registration within a transfer window. Unless a player is coming in on a free transfer, most leagues won’t let you register a player outside of a transfer window. If you’re unaware of transfer windows, in Europe, there are two:

• Summer transfer window (preseason): July 1 – August 31
• Winter transfer window (midseason): January 1 – January 31
