How to Complete Freeman’s Lost Treasure in Skull and Bones

The Investigation to find Freeman's Lost Treasure is the longest to complete in Skull and Bones.

Urick Freeman made off with one of the biggest heists in Skull and Bones by stealing from the Schaduw. A legendary pirate, he disappeared with his treasure, leaving only clues behind. Here’s how to complete Freeman’s Lost Treasure in Skull and Bones and claim it for yourself.

How to Solve Freeman’s Lost Treasure Investigation in Skull and Bones

To find Freeman’s legendary treasure pilfered from the Schaduw, complete the seven investigations that fall under it. Once those have been finished, you’ll get a quest for the main investigation: Freeman’s Lost Treasure.

How to Complete the Fall of Lanitra

You can start this investigation at Lanitra or Sainte-Anne by bribing or eavesdropping on conversations. Once you have the quest, head to Lanitra to find a note near the cooking fire, which directs you to Plunder Guérande. Return to Sainte-Anne to finish the mission. The Fall of Lanitra rewards include x250 Infamy, x5 Wood Tar, 2,400 Silver, and the Unshakable Focus cosmetic.

This is another investigation you get out of Sainte-Anne, though you can pick it up in any of the outposts along the Coast of Africa. Go to Great Ukuta to find a leaflet announcing the overthrow of the King. From there, Plunder Bandari to the north and head to Pillar Tomb to find the treasure. Hunt for the Crown of Ukuta rewards include x300 Infamy, Taste My Hammer cosmetic, x10 Fine Hemp, x6 Cobalt Ingot, x8 Mopane Plank, and 3,500 Silver.

Turning the Page

This is a rather cute investigation into the writer of a children’s book. It’s the last one that starts out of Sainte-Anne, and you learn more about your crew while solving it. To begin, bribe the man near the Blacksmith, then head to the tavern (not Le Pont Muet) to find a wanted poster. Plunder Sainte-Amelie to the south, then destroy the ship, La Plume. Afterward, head back to Sainte-Anne and finish the quest. You’ll earn x300 Infamy, the Machine Spirit cosmetic, x5 Cogwheel, and 4,800 Silver.

Mentari of the Unbound

This investigation begins in Telok Penjarah in the Unbound area of the city. Head to Mentari’s last known whereabouts in Parujar’s Cry, then take out the ship she planned to destroy. To complete the quest, finish Scurlock’s storyline first, otherwise you can’t meet with Admiral Ramha in Telok Penjarah. The Kingpin rewards you with x250 Infamy, Mark of the Resilient cosmetic, x1 Screw Mechanism, and 3,000 Silver.

Legacy of Madness

Legacy of Madness starts in Telok Penjarah by bribing citizens. Speak with the Shipwright, then head to the haunted Khmoy Estate, where one of Freeman’s ships allegedly crashed. Search to the right of the location, then dock. Locate multiple notes to find the treasure location. Finishing Legacy of Madness rewards you with x200 Infamy, the Golden Crest cosmetic, x8 Shellac, x5 Crude Saltpeter, and x3,000 Silver.

Grave News

This was the hardest investigation for me to complete. It begins when docking at DMC-controlled areas and bribing people talking about a grave robbery. Plunder the Oosten Capital next, which is surrounded by six Guard Towers you need to take out to get through the first stage. Then, find a message in a bottle around the Spice Islands.

Once you have the message, Plunder the level 13 Fort Premie. I was taken out in about two hits of its cannons, so constantly moving is a good tactic to employ. After, head to the nearby Necropolis to dock and dig up treasure. Grave News rewards you x300 Infamy, the All That Glitters cosmetic, and the Sieved Tithings cosmetic, x5 Wood Tar, and 6,000 Silver.

Ambush!

Unlike the other Investigations, Ambush! begins when you read a message in a bottle along the Coast of Africa warning you to stay away from Dutchman’s Camp. You also learn more about the DMC ship Opwelling world boss. This takes you down to the southern part of the map in search of the man’s ship, which is near a poisonous cloud. Head to Dutchman’s Camp on the same island to find what Arnold left behind. Completing Ambush! grants you x200 Infamy, Hammer and Tongs cosmetic, x10 Fine Ramie, and 5,500 Silver.

Freeman’s Lost Treasure

When all the sub Investigations are complete, the journal entry for Freeman’s Lost Treasure will automatically update. The quest now points you to Bukit Candi, an outpost in the northern area of the East Indies. Upon arrival, look for the treasure site, marked with a warhammer. It’s just to the left of the landing area when looking at your boat.

Read the letter Freeman left behind to complete the investigation and get the treasure. The letter itself may be an Easter Egg pointing at a map expansion in the future or new questline.

Freeman’s Lost Treasure Quest Rewards

This last chest fully completes the Iron Will cosmetic set, along with padding your pockets with Silver.

  • x600 Infamy
  • Rugged Chest
    • Iron Will cosmetic
    • x15 Fine Abaka
    • x15 Zinc Ingot
    • x15 Juniper Plank
    • x5 Sheet Glass
    • x5 Screw Mechanism
    • x10,000 Silver

That’s how to complete Freeman’s Lost Treasure in Skull and Bones. It’s a long Investigation that takes you to the late game, but well worth it. For other quest walkthroughs, resource locations, or ship loadouts, check out our guides vault.
