How to Get a Fishing Rod in No Rest for the Wicked

Fishing Rod is one of the first items you can find in the game. I have found my fishing rod to the left (west) of my starting location (after the tutorial on the ship). It is on the shore, just under the first Cerim Whispers tower.

Here is a map location:

Here’s the location in the game. The Pine Fishing Rod was left near a corpse. You’ll be able to see this in the following screenshot just under my character, along with the pick-up message on the left edge of my screen:

And now to put this fishing rod to work, where it belongs, in the open seas. You’re probably wondering how to fish in this game.

How to Fish in No Rest for the Wicked

Fishing in No Rest for the Wicked is actually pretty easy. You just need to equip your Fishing Rod first. To do this, open your inventory and drag your Fishing Rod into the item slots that are labeled with the pickaxe.

After this is done, walk to the shore of the sea. If there’s fish to be caught, you will see a prompt at the top of your screen that will ask you to press your Interact button. You should look for bubbles on the surface of the sea and/or fishes jumping out of water because that’s where the fish are hiding.

Press the Interact button when the string starts moving (the bait goes below the water surface). You do not need to have specific bait or fish food attached, so hooray for the simplicity of this process.
