Pieces of Eight is one of the currencies used by vendors throughout the Indian Ocean. Acquiring them isn’t as straightforward as it is with silver, however. This is how to get and farm Pieces of Eight in Skull and Bones.

How to Obtain Pieces of Eight in Skull and Bones

There are three ways to get this currency: by completing delivery contracts for the Helm, improving your smuggling empire with the Helm, and collecting Community Challenge Rewards.

How to Complete Delivery Contracts for Pieces of Eight

The main method to obtain Pieces of Eight is completing delivery contracts for the Helm. A smuggling organization, the Helm invites you to speak with them as you gain Infamy, particularly after reaching Marauder. You may have wondered what Le Pont Muet had waiting for you. It’s the first place you’ll learn about the Helm when speaking with the owner, Yanita. Venture into the giant cask with the Kraken symbol to begin your smuggling empire.

Your first quest is to buy supplies, specifically Sugar Cane. Yanita specializes in making Rum, which you deliver to thirsty patrons worldwide. Completing these delivery contracts will yield Pieces of Eight.

Expanding Your Smuggling Empire with the Helm

The second way to earn them is to create and expand your smuggling empire with the Helm. This only unlocks once you reach Kingpin, and it includes co-op heists, as well as PvP. It’s the best way to farm Pieces of Eight, however. You can earn over 200 to 300 coins an hour with multiple manufactories under your control.

The process is a bit intense, though. You must fund each location every hour or drop off a hefty supply of product, and you must pick up your coin before the storage fills. You lose profit if you leave it alone.

Similar to the delivery jobs, you can fast travel once you have any Pieces of Eight in your cargo. You must reach a Den, such as Sainte-Anne, by sailing. The farther the manufactory, the greater the risk that Rogues will take you out before you can safely secure your coin.

Ear Community Challenge Rewards

The final way to earn Pieces of Eight is by collecting Community Challenge rewards in the Ubisoft Connect launcher. When you click into a game, you see a menu on the left side under the Play button. Select Challenges to see what the player base has achieved. So far, Bloody Mess is the only one that rewards any of the currency, specifically a single Pieces of Eight.

While it’s not much, any little bit helps increase your stockpile, especially if you’re looking to make blueprint purchases. Since this is the first set of challenges, there may be others in the future that grant more than one piece.

What’s the Best Way to Farm Pieces of Eight in Skull and Bones?

Each Helm mission will list the currency total you’ll receive at the bottom. The best way to farm Pieces of Eight is by simultaneously delivering multiple batches of product. A single Overseas Smuggler will accept all Order Requests, so you can instantly complete three or four missions.

With this farming method, I get about 100 Pieces of Eight just when delivering White Skull Rum. As you continue to progress through the Helm questlines, you can make more advanced drinks and drugs. The better the product, the higher the reward. Prioritize White Opium orders over Rum, for example.
