There are multiple reasons you might want to kill an NPC in Honeywood. Maybe you want to marry a new NPC without going through a divorce. Or you want to marry an already married NPC. In that case, here’s how to kill your (or somebody else’s) spouse in Echoes of the Plum Grove.

Echoes of the Plum Grove: How to Kill Your Spouse

The key to killing an NPC in Echoes of the Plum Grove is an item called Death Cake. When you give it to an NPC, they eat it and die that night. You’ll receive a notice about their funeral in the mail the following morning. Afterward, you can get remarried, or convince a grieving villager to get married again, but to you this time.

How to Get a Death Cake

You can get Death Cake in two different ways. First, you can buy Death Cakes from Astra. She doesn’t always have them in her inventory when you request to trade with her. However, I found that she tended to sell at least one cake more often than not. So, it’s a pretty good bet that she’ll have one for you. Second, you can make Death Cake yourself.

Astra also sells the recipe for Death Cake. Again, she doesn’t always have the recipe available when you trade with her, but if you keep going to visit and trade with her, you’ll definitely come across it. Since it costs 333 Gold, make sure you have enough before heading to her; otherwise, you’ll waste your trip. Once you have the recipe, you can cook it in your house using a Death Cap, Flour, and Cream.

After you have a Death Cake, pay a visit to your target and choose the “Gift” option. Then, give them the Death Cake and continue about your day. By the next day, your target dies and your goal is accomplished.

That’s how to kill your (or somebody else’s) spouse in Echoes of the Plum Grove. This farming sim lets you get creative with what you want to do, and how you interact with the other villagers, even going as far as killing them. From here, check out our Plum Grove guide hub for more content!
