Though this is an optional puzzle, solving it can provide valuable items or Strange Coins to aid your journey and is required to achieve a specific ending. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to solve the Gatehouse Puzzle in Withering Rooms.

How to Open the Gatehouse Golden Treasure Chest in Withering Rooms

When you attempt to open the Gatehouse Golden Treasure Chest in Withering Rooms, a screen with the following hint will appear: O Night Mother, reveal yourself to us in the infinite geometry of mirrors and lenses. This clue should tell you that you need to do something with mirrors and your camera to figure out the lock’s combination.

To solve the Gatehouse Puzzle in Withering Rooms, you must use your camera to take pictures of the oval-shaped, cursed mirrors inside the Gatehouse. After taking a photo, strange symbols will be revealed, which you must decode. To decode the symbols:

1. Count the number of sides of each shape
2. Check the number of dots below each shape.

If you accidentally close the screen after taking a picture, don’t worry. You can still review the shapes on the photograph in your inventory.

The number of the sides of each shape corresponds to the digit you need to enter, while the dots indicate the location of the lock for that digit. Once you have determined the three digits required, enter them into the Gatehouse Golden Treasure Chest to open it and claim your reward.
