How to Unlock Constructs in Astor: Blade of the Monolith

You might have seen the Constructs tab as you started Astor: Blade of the Monolith or heard about them in the many promotional dev blogs before launch. They’re powerful cooldown-based abilities that Astor can summon for various effects. Here’s how to unlock Constructs in Astor: Blade of the Monolith.

How to Get Constructs in Astor: Blade of the Monolith

You can unlock Constructs in Astor: Blade of the Monolith after the Temple of Soma boss when you visit the Firefly Forest for the first time. After arriving in the main area, check the cages to your right for a cutscene and then go to the locked Temple to the left. Inside, you’ll encounter your first Challenge gate. Interacting with it and winning the challenge unlocks your first Construct.

It’s a short combat challenge with three enemies where you can also unlock Block Drop. This Construct drops a massive block that deals great damage in a short AOE, which you can aim. You’ll be able to unlock more Constructs later on through these Challenge gates, so be on the lookout. For example, the next one will be in Kalios Mountain, down some stairs toward the end of the level. The neat thing about Constructs is they’re always placed in the linear path through the level, making them hard to miss.

At any time, you can visit the Constructs tab in your character menu to rearrange them and check their inputs. Constructs all have their own cooldowns but otherwise cost no resources like Stamina or the Runic meter. I recommend you activate Constructs whenever they’re off cooldown since they’ll offer methods of crowd control and AOE damage, especially on higher difficulties. Best of all, they’re fairly safe to use due to their slowdown effect before you deploy them.
