Lethal Company: How to Survive the Jester

The Jester is one of the most intimidating monsters in Lethal Company.

There are only two monsters you’ll pretty much only see at Hazard levels above A: the Jester and the Ghost Girl. In this guide, I’ll go over how to survive the Jester in Lethal Company, one of the scariest creatures in the game.

How to Survive and Beat the Jester in Lethal Company

It’s very rare to see the Jester on a Hazard level below A, though I’ve seen it on Hazard level B on Experimentation. It was a huge shock, and I’ve only seen it on such a low Hazard level once, so it’s not impossible to run into this monster on moons other than Rend, Dine, and Titan.

The only way to survive the Jester in Lethal Company is to exit the facility before it finishes its 30-second song. I provide much greater detail on how to escape it below.

This monster roams the facility until it finds someone. It’s not dangerous right away, though, and for good reason. The Jester will kill every member of your crew in the facility once it’s gone berserk. Luckily, you have a little warning before it starts its rampage.

When the Jester first finds you, it will follow you for a little bit until it decides the time is right. It might stand still in front of you, its arms limp and boxy body blocking you from jumping around it. Everyone panics when they first run into this jack-in-the-box with legs.

Eventually, the Jester starts to wind itself up. The music emanating from the box grows in intensity and becomes increasingly erratic as it gets closer to the end of its 30-second song. Now run! It’s out for blood as soon as it’s over and its gruesome head pops out of the box.

The Jester charges for one player to the next once it reveals its head, and its footsteps turn into thunderous stomps that rival even the Thumper‘s. There is no stopping its rampage once it starts, but it won’t last forever. If every crew member is outside of the facility for a short time, the Jester will reset back to a closed state. You can then all re-enter the facility and try to get some more scrap before it starts winding up again.

Can You Kill the Jester in Lethal Company?

You can’t beat the Jester in Lethal Company. There’s no killing this monster. That said, you can slow its winding by using a Zap Gun on it. In times of great quota need, spamming the Zap Gun on the Jester can halt its windup by stunning it. This can be done repeatedly, though the Zap Gun relies on electricity and can’t be used indefinitely.

All you can truly do is evacuate the facility when a Jester is on a rampage. It’s a shame, but that’s the risk your crew takes when going to one of the paid moons. That’s about all the advice I can give on how to survive the Jester in Lethal Company.
