Bolg

  • Role: Tank
  • Damage: 2,341
  • HP: 25,459

Bolg is the leader of all Misty Mountain creatures, possessing such powers like crowd control, high damage and tankiness, as well as an ability to buff all of the allied orcs and trolls. That’s why he synergizes so well with Tordok and Nurraz.

His two best abilities are No Escape and Bolg’s Brigade. The first one deals 330% damage to a single target, if Bolg is on his own, but if you ally him with Tordok, then he deals 380% damage to a single target. The other one guarantees that all Bolg’s allies deal critical hits to enemies with 50% health or less.

Ghazh Ironhide

  • Role: Tank
  • Damage: 2,066
  • HP: 30,683

Although Ironhide is primarily a tanky character, who can easily soak up a ton of damage, he’s also an excellent attacker with some fantastic AoE skills. This character synergizes greatly with other Mordor allies, such as Shagrat and Rokma.

His best ability is Rampage, which is an AoE attack that deals 230% damage to all enemies, and if you have damaged allies, then it adds another 20% of damage per each such ally. But his basic attack Spear Bash is just as devastating, dealing 280% damage to a single target with 50% HP or less.

Gruhur the Brute

  • Role: Attacker
  • Damage: 2,441
  • HP: 32,600

Gruhur has some excellent buffs and debuffs, as well as tons of HP, albeit his attacks are slower than that of other characters. He synergizes with Misty Mountain characters, such as Nurraz and Bolg.

His best two abilities are Monstrous Roar and Toxic Blood. The first one buffs damage of all his allies by 50%, and debuffs all enemies with a 50% penalty to their Focus. The second ability is more of a defensive one, as it automatically inflicts Poison on any foe that tries to attack Gruhur.

Halbarad

  • Role: Tank
  • Damage: 1,802
  • HP: 33,933

Halbarad’s greatest advantage is his massive HP pool, one of the highest in the game, although his attacks aren’t as strong. He can do a lot of great things when teamed up with rangers, such as Strider and Mirie.

If you decide to use Halbarad alongside other rangers, then he’ll be able to buff his team using such skills like Tall Tower and Ranger of the North to boost an entire team’s HP and Focus. But I learned that if you specifically team him up with Mirie, then you can use his Northern Storm ability, which allows him to attack enemies for 260% damage with the 25% chance to deal critical damage.

LotR Heroes of Middle Earth: B-Tier Characters

Eothain

  • Role: Tank
  • Damage: 1,742
  • HP: 25,306

Eothain is a decent tanky character, but what should really make you consider him are his team buffing skills. Since he’s human, his main synergies can be found only with other humans from Rohan, such as Eomer and Lady Eowyn.

Eomer is an especially useful companion, as he increases Eothain’s HP by 20% due to Vanguard passive ability synergy. But the most important skill here is Sentinel’s Stance, which grants all allies 20% bonus to their Turn Meters, which allows them to act twice in a row.

Shagrat

  • Role: Attacker
  • Damage: 2,036
  • HP: 24,753

Shagrat is not very impressive on his own, but once you team him up with other orcs from Mordor, that’s when you can really increase the stakes. Try to put him together with Ghazh Ironhide and Grimlurs for better synergies.

His two best abilities are Splash of Green and Let The Lads Play. The first one allows Shagrat not only to deal 200% damage to a single target, but also apply Poison. While the other one grants 16% bonus of Turn Meter to all Mordor allies.

Ugluk

  • Role: Tank
  • Damage: 1,802
  • HP: 26,542

Ugluk isn’t your typical orc, since he doesn’t comes from Mordor but from Isengard, and he’s also a healer. That’s why you should pair him up only with other Isengard orcs for better performance, including Mauhur and Azhak.

His main skill is I Am Ugluk, which heals all Isengard allies for 10% HP, and grants 10% bonus to their Focus. His most powerful offensive ability is Onslaught, which hits a target enemy for 250% damage and reduces enemy’s accuracy by 100%.
