Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: How to Get the Digger Drill

The Digger Drill in Pokemon BDSP is the only way to get a Secret Base.

If you want a Secret Base, then you’ll need the Digger Drill in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and probably more than one. The tool is the only way to tunnel through the walls of the Grand Underground and set up your Base, and while you can’t decorate it the same as you can Bases in the original Diamond and Pearl, having a Secret Base is still worth your time.

This Pokemon BDSP guide will tell you everything you need to know about how to get the Digger Drill and how to use it.

How to Get the Digger Drill in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

You can get the Digger Drill in two ways. One is free, and you’ll get it from the explorer in Eterna City after finishing his third quest. This is the same man who gives you the Explorer’s Kit to enter the Grand Underground, and free is always preferable to giving up spheres.

The explorer gives you a quest to create a Secret Base after you obtain his drill, and you’ll get a handful of specialty Poke Balls if you do it.

The other Digger Drills come from traders in the Grand Underground. They’ll often have Digger Drills in stock, so if you need to relocate your Secret Base for some reason, you’ll have to purchase another Drill from them.

You can only have one active Secret Base at a time, though. Your old one disappears for good, so think ahead before you decide to make a new one.

How to Use the Digger Drill in Pokemon BDSP

All you need to do to use the Digger Drill is face the wall you want to dig through and press “A.” Secret Bases in BDSP are where you store statues, which you’ll use to increase the likelihood of certain Pokemon appearing.

That’s all you need to know about how to get the Digger Drill in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but make sure to check out our other Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl guides for more tips and tricks.
