Trapinch can only be found in the Savanna biome of the Terarium in the Indigo Disk DLC. It’s also one of the primary places you can encounter Smeargle. Alongside that Pokemon and Trapinch’s regular form, you can encounter its evolutions, Vibrava and Flygon, in the same area, making the task of filling out your Pokedex much easier.

That said, this entire line of Generation III Pokemon is pretty common here, so you won’t need to search for too long to find one. Realistically, you’ll probably bump into a few Trapinch as you explore the starting biome on your own terms. At least, that’s what I did.

Fittingly, I found my own Ant Pit Pokemon hanging out inside an actual pit in the ground and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to add it to my team. I’ve gone back to this rugged area a few times to find plenty of these Ground-types lingering around, so I suggest searching here.

As a first-stage Pokemon, Trapinch isn’t all that difficult to catch in the Indigo Disk DLC. While its evolutions can be a bit tougher to tame, you should have solid luck catching one of these little guys with most ball types. I went with a Dusk Ball for its matching color scheme and got lucky with a critical capture.

While Trapinch has an average catch rate, it’s important to note that it also boasts an intimidating attack stat. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend drawing out your battle any longer than you need to, especially if your lead Pokemon is at a type disadvantage. With a lucky throw, you’ll have a new team member at your side in no time.

That’s how to find and catch Trapinch in the Indigo Disk DLC. For more help navigating battles and catching Pokemon, check out our dedicated Scarlet & Violet guides hub, where you’ll find plenty of other tips and tricks.
