Tales of Xillia 2 Guide: Ludger Allium Orbs

Tales of Xillia 2 uses a system called Allium Orbs to learn new artes and skills. There are 6 different elements each character can unlock artes and skill in.

Allium orbs are extractors that use the elemental ore you gain to unlock things from 1 or more elements.

You can have one that unlocks only Fire ore, or one that unlocks artes and skills from Fire, Wind, and Dark ore, for example. You’ll only unlock from the element(s) the Allium orb your character has equipped extracts from.

The good thing is that you get elemental ore from every battle and can find them around the world. They are the large glowing orbs. All you have to do is change your Allium orb when you aren’t in battle to unlock things from a different element.

There are many artes and skills to unlock for all 6 elements and you can only keep track of a few at a time. I’m here to save you time by letting you know which artes and skills you unlock from each element, and how many ore you need for them.

Before I begin, each element will be split into multiple categories. Pure means that you only need that element to unlock. Mixed means you need that element and another to unlock. Each of these categories is split into artes and skills for better organization.

Earth

Pure

Artes

  • Armor Crusher (TP: 12; 160 Earth) (Dual Blades Arte) – Slash upward with two blades in a forward flip. Can break an enemy’s guard. 
  • Wave Smasher (TP: 26; 1210 Earth) (Hammer Arte) – Strikes the ground and unleashes shockwaves. Does Earth elemental damage. 
  • Earth Spike (TP: 36; 5060 Earth) (Hammer Arte) – Strikes the ground with the butt of the hammer and causes eruptions in the earth. Does Earth elemental damage. 

Skills

  • Dexterity (SP: 2; 50 Earth) – Increases Dexterity by 5%. 
  • Exchange (SP: 2; 310 Earth) – After L1 + X, your weapons will auto-swap: Dual blades -> Sledgehammer -> Dual Pistols -> Dual Blades. 
  • Exchange Plus (SP: 2; 500 Earth) – Changes exchange to swap in the following order. Blades, Pistols, hammer, blades. 
  • Dexterity 2 (SP: 4; 730 Earth) – Increases Dexterity by 10%.
  • Earth Guard (SP: 8; 1440 Earth) – Increases resistance to earth by 15%.
  • Flash Guard (SP: 2; 1880 Earth) – Reduces damage by 90% when you guard with perfect timing. Does not apply to auto-guarding.
  • HP Restoration Guard (SP: 6; 3180 Earth) – Restores 25% HP when you perform a successful Flash Guard. 
  • TP Restoration Guard (SP: 6; 4530 Earth)  Restores 10% TP when you perform a successful Flash Guard. 
Mixed

Artes

  • Outlander (TP: 6; 310 Earth & Light) (Hammer Arte) – Attack that sweeps in a wide arc. Critical hit on a stunned enemy.
  • Sanctuary (TP: 5; 1030 Earth & Water) (Hammer Arte) Create a barrier around you, protecting all allies within it. The rang will increase when mastered. 
  • Blaze Bloom (TP: 45; 1880 Earth & Light) (Dual Pistols Arte) – A shot that looks like a rose blossom, which will scatter petals in the wind on impact. 
  • Freezing Eruption(TP: 54; 6250 Earth & Water) (Hammer Arcane Arte) – Sends shockwaves through the ground and causes ice spikes to rise up. Does Water and Earth elemental damage.

Skills

  • Level Restore (SP: 2; 230 Earth & Light) – Completely regains hp and tp when you gain a level. 
  • Second artes 2 (SP: 6; 500 Earth & Water) Hold the attack button when using a sledgehammer to unleash a new attack: Outlander.
  • Speed Freak (SP: 4; 1030 Earth & Light) – Increases speed of Hammer artes. 
  • Heal Share Plus (SP: 6; 4530 Earth & Light) – HP restoration while linked, +25%.

Fire

Pure

Artes

  • Hammer Toss (TP: 20; 160 Fire) – Throws the hammer forward. Hold the button down to charge the attack for double strength. Does Fire Elemental damage. 
  • Crimson Fury (TP: 17; 310 Fire) (Dual blades Arte) – Knocks enemies in the air with a flaming somersault, then carves them in mid-air with blades of fire. Does Fire elemental damage. 
  •  Mine Collapse (TP: 21; 1210 Fire) (Hammer Arte) – Toss a bomb that explodes when it hits the ground. Hold button to detonate immediately. Does Fire elemental damage. 
  • Heatwave (TP: 35; 5060 Fire) (Dual pistols Arte) – Flame bullets raze the ground in front of your enemies. When mastered, range is increased. Does Fire elemental damage.

Skills

  • Strength (SP: 2; 50 Fire) – Increases Strength by 5%.
  • Fury Stoke (SP: 4; 230 Fire)  Performing a taunt will make enemies focus you for 5 seconds. 
  • Crusher (SP: 4; 400 Fire) – Makes it easier to inflict magical ailments with normal sledgehammer attacks. 
  • Strength 2(SP: 4; 870 Fire) – Increases Strength by 10%.
  • Fire Guard (SP: 8; 1630 Fire) – Increases Fire resistance by 15%.
  • Fury Stoke 2 (SP: 2; 3590 Fire) – Fury Stoke duration increased by 10 seconds.

 Mixed

 Artes

  •  Rapid Burst (TP: 21; 230 Fire & Wind) – Rapid fire with the left gun and execute a charged shot with the right. With the right skill, consume TP to fire more shots.
  • Magical Destruction (TP: 54; 1410 Light & Fire) – Hammer arcane arte. Draw upon spyrix within the hammer to create a blade. When mastered, number of strikes increase. Does light elemental damage.
  • Scatter Bolt (TP: 12; 1210 Fire & Wind) (Dual Pistols Arte) Fire electrical shots while leaping back. Has a high chance of stunning your foes. Leap distance will increase when mastered. Does Fire and Wind Elemental damage.
  • Energy Shackles (TP: 14; 1410 Fire & Wind) (Dual Blades Arte) – Bind enemies with spheres of lightning and finishes them off with shockwaves. Does Fire and Wind elemental damage.
  • Flame Tunnel (TP: 28; 6250 Light & Fire) (Hammer Arte) – Conjures flames and strikes enemies repeatedly. Hold down the button to increase forward distance. Does Fire elemental damage. 

Skills

  • Long Step ( SP: 4; 100 Fire & Wind) – Perform front-steps and back-steps over a greater distance. 
  • Momentary Gain (SP: 2; 310 Wind & Fire) – AC + 1 when performing a back-step to avoid an attack (up to 3 times).
  • Defense Artes (SP: 4; 610 Fire & Wind) – Holding down the button will increase the duration of Sanctuary.
  • Dual Bladist (SP: 4; 870 Fire & Light) – Normal attacks with dual blades increase the linked arte gauge 20% more. SP cost 4.
  • Extended Window (SP: 4; 1880 Fire & Wind) – Doubles the window of opportunity for performing linked artes when initiating them. 
  • Counter Artes (SP: 12; 2160 Fire & Wind) – Certain sledgehammer artes will now be usable when being hit by an enemy: Flame Tunnel and Psychic Restoration. 
  • Momentary Gain 2 (SP: 4; 3180 Fire & Wind) – If Momentary Gain is active, your AC will automatically be maxed at 3.
  • Cross Counter (SP: 4; 4530 Light & Fire) – Inflict 25% more damage when attacking an enemy during its attack.
  • Gravity Guard (SP: 12; 7640 Fire & Wind) – Avoid staggering while on the ground with 0 AC.

Wind

Artes

  • Lunar Reflection (TP: 9; 160 Wind) (Dual blades arte) – Close in on your enemy and strike while leaping back. Does Wind elemental damage.
  • Migrating Sparrows (TP: 22; 4530 Wind) (Dual pistols arte) – Fires wind bullets that chase the enemy. When mastered, shots will pierce enemies.Does Wind elemental damage.

Skills

  • Agility (SP: 2; 50 Wind) – Increases Agility by 5%.
  • Jump Cancel (SP: 4; 500 Wind) – Cancel attacks by jumping.
  • Agility 2 (SP: 4; 870 Wind) Increases Agility by 10%.
  • Wind Guard (SP: 8; 1630 Wind) Increases Wind resistance by 15%.
  • Alternate Dash (SP: 0; 9230 Wind) Changes the dash animation on the field map.
  • Sky Soldier (SP: 20; 11050 Wind) – When attacking in the air, damage to enemies increases by 25% and TP consumed decreases by 25%.

Mixed

Artes

  • Rapid Burst (TP: 21; 230 Fire & Wind) (Dual pistols arte) – Rapid fire with the left gun and execute a charged shot with the right. With the right skill, consume TP to fire more shots.

  •  Swift Strike (TP: 6; 100 Water) (Dual Blades Arte) – Dual-blade thrust, directly ahead. Critical hit on a stunned enemy.
  • Arc Fire (TP: 24; 730 Water) – Fires both guns in a wide overlapping arc. Critical hit on downed enemies. Does Water elemental damage.

Skills

  • Vitality (SP: 2; 50 Water) – Increases Vitality by 5%.
  • Hidden Target (SP: 8; 230 Water) Enemies will miss more for 5 seconds after you perform a taunt.
  • TP Combo Support (SP: 2; 500 Water) – TP consumption reduced from normal attacks. 4 hit or higher combos – 10% reduction. 8 hit or higher – 30% reduction.
  • Vitality 2 (SP: 4; 870 Water) Increases Vitality by 10%.
  • Water Guard (SP: 8; 1410 Water) Increases Water resistance by 15%.
  • Damage Control (SP: 4; 9230 Water) 30% chance of preventing knockback.

  • Deadeye (TP: 29; 400 Dark & Water) Increases the odds of inflicting ailments. When mastered, you’ll be invincible while rolling. Critical hit on a downed enemy.
  • Wings of Destruction  (TP: 55; 1880 Dark & Water) (Dual pistols arcane arte) – Creates tornadoes of darkness. Produces more tornadoes when mastered. Does Dark elemental damage.

Skills

  •  Counter Chance (SP: 2; 610 Dark & Water) Avoid staggering for 8 seconds after a well-timed guard when using a sledgehammer.
  • Pierce (SP: 4; 1210 Dark & Water) Normal attacks with Dual Pistols will pierce through enemies.
  • Mind Share Plus (SP: 8; 5630 Dark & Water) TP restoration while linked +25%.

Light

Pure

Artes

  • Falling Thunder (TP: 8; 12 Light) (Dual Blades arte) – Stab an enemy overhead. Critical hit on downed enemy. Does Light elemental damage.
  • Hungry Hunter  (TP: 12; 160 Light) (Hammer arte) – Gather energy and then release it in a powerful blast. Does Light elemental damage.
  • Hammer Flail (TP: 16; 1210 Light) Swing hammer back and then ahead of you. The backward strike can stun enemies.
  • Moonlight Assault  (TP: 44; 1880 Light) (Dual blades arcane arte) – Slash ahead twice and then deliver a heeldrop kick from the air. Does light elemental damage.

Skills

  • Intelligence (SP: 2; 50 Light) – Increases Intelligence by 5%.
  • HP Gain (SP: 6; 100 Light) Recovers 10% HP each time you defeat an enemy.
  • Reconnaissance (SP: 2; 230 Light) Enemy weaknesses will be displayed while you press the “switch target” button.
  • Stamina (SP: 2; 610 Light) Increases HP by 5%.
  • Over Extension 2 (SP: 2; 730 Light) Combos with linked artes will increase over limit duration by 1 second. (Valid only once per combo.)
  • Intelligence 2 (SP: 4; 870 Light) Increases Intelligence by 10%.
  • HP Gain 2 (SP: 4; 1030 Light) The effects of HP Gain will increase based on your combo count. Increases by 1% for every 5 hits.

  • Hunting Phoenix – (TP: 18; 3180 Dark) (Dual Blades arte) – Dive in and strike enemies, then kick them up into the air. Creates a shockwave as well when mastered. Does Dark elemental damage.

Skills

  • Solid Guard (SP: 4; 15 Dark) Decreases damage by 50% when guarding. Also works with magic guard.
  • Psyche (SP: 2; 50 Dark) Increases Psyche by 5%.
  • TP Gain (SP: 10; 100 Dark) Recover 2% TP each time you defeat an enemy.
  • Spirit (SP: 2; 610 Dark) Increases TP by 5%.
  • Psyche 2 (SP: 4; 870 Dark)  Increases Psyche by 10%.
  • TP Gain 2 (SP: 4; 1030 Dark) The effects of TP Gain will increase based on your combo count. Increases by 1% for every 5 hits.
