How to Use Sims 4 Building Cheats

Cheats aren’t a bad thing when it comes to Sims 4; in fact, they are a necessity when building. They can help you do a lot more, whether it be placing an object more precisely or giving the funds to purchase it. Here are a few of the best cheats to use to improve how your builds look.

How to Enable Cheats in Sims 4

Before you can start using all the build cheats, you’ll need to enable cheats first. Otherwise, entering the cheats won’t work at all. To do so, open the cheat menu by pressing CTRL + Shift + C on PC or LB + RB + LT + RT on console.

You’ll see a white box open in the left corner of the screen. From here, you can click into the box and type in testingcheats true. You should see a message immediately following it saying, “Cheats enabled.” Now you’re in the clear to start entering other cheats.

Money Building Cheats

The first step to making the perfect build is picking the right lot and having the funds to purchase all the items you need. Sometimes, you’ll already have unlimited funds at your disposal if you’re building without an active sim. However, If you’re already on an active sim, you’ll need to use the money from their bank account. Building a place is not cheap, so here are some cheats to make it easier.

CheatDescription
FreeRealEstate OnMakes all lots free.
rosebudAdds $1,000 to balance.
kachingAdds $1,000 to balance.
motherlodeAdds $50,000 to balance.
Money X(Fill in X with the amount you want, e.g. 100000, no dollar sign or comma.)

Enter these cheats directly into the cheat menu, just like how we enabled cheats. You can repeat them as many times as you need to, to keep your bank account stocked as you build.

Unlock Build Items Cheats

Along with having money to purchase items, you can also expand your build items selection by using some cheats. These are debug and hidden objects that aren’t usually shown to you but can have some amazing items to choose from.

All these cheats will add items to various categories, mostly in Misc. Objects. However, you can also search DEBUG in the bar to find them more quickly. Here’s what to enter into the cheat bar (try to copy them exactly to avoid any issues):

CheatDescription
bb.showhiddenobjectsAdds tons of debug items that aren’t usually available to players.
bb.showliveeditobjectsAdds world objects, from random collectibles, trees, clutter, and other decor objects.
bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlementAdds career items usually only unlocked through live mode.

Move Objects Cheat

One of the most necessary cheats you’ll need for building is the ‘move objects’ cheat. This allows you to freely place objects, resize them to be bigger, or raise and lower them without worrying about the grid.

To enable the cheat, open your cheat menu and enter: bb.moveobjects — then you can start using the other controls to do helpful commands with it, such as raising an object up or making it bigger. Here are a few ideas:

Move Objects FunctionCommand
[Sizes object down.
]Sizes object up.
9Raise object up.
0Lowers object down.
Alt (Hold)Freely places objects without the grid.
Shift (Hold)Duplicate item immediately after placing one.

Unlock Any Build Plot

One last option for your building needs is a cheat that allows you to build anywhere. If you have a doctor’s career and don’t like the look of the hospital, you can use it to change how it looks. You can also build on secret lots like Sylvan Glade.

To start building there, enter the cheat: bb.enablefreebuild — then the build button at the top right corner will open. You can press that build button to enter build mode and have free reign to renovate anything you like. You may need to use some money cheats to purchase stuff though if you’re playing on an active sim.

With all these build cheats, you can improve your builds significantly. You’ll be able to precisely place each item, have access to more items that will elevate your house, and have endless money to purchase them with. You can even change up those lots like the hospital and police station.
