  2. Select “Industrial Goods” tab.
  3. Select “Grey Canister” option.

Once this is done, you will see green spots on your map indicating all the oil locations in your state.

If you play as a non-oil state, then you need do the following:

  1. Go to the “Trade Lens” menu.

  3. Select regions marked with oil for trading.

Extracting Oil

Once you’ve located the oil sources on any one state’s map, you can make one of two choices to extract it.

Whaling Stations

You can start constructing whaling stations right away to begin extracting oil. But there is a danger of high worker mortality rates at about 20% to 30%. This means that you should invest money in “Worker Rehabilitation”, if you want these stations to keep extracting oil for you.

Oil Rigs

These structures are much more efficient than whaling stations, and have no danger of worker mortality. But it is also a much more expensive venture. For example, the construction of one oil rig requires:

  • 1 Pumpjack.
  • 5 Engines.
  • 10 Coal.

If you can afford such expenses, then you will have oil reserves on the level of 60 points.
