Where to Find Bears in LEGO Fortnite

These animals are not quite as nice as the rest!

The Farm Friends update for LEGO Fortnite brought many new farming opportunities with cute animals to tame; however, along with those farm animals, there is also one new hostile animal — bears. Here’s where to find them, defeat them, and what drops you can get from them.

LEGO Fortnite Bear Guide – How to Find Them

Unlike the farm animals like sheep, cows, and pigs, bears are hostile creatures. This means they attack you on sight, and you cannot tame them. They are similar to wolves in this sense, even more so because they come in the same two varieties: Polar Bears and Grizzly Bears.

Just like the wolves, the different types of bears usually stick to their matching biomes. The brown bears stick to the Grasslands, and the white bears stick to the Frostlands. Tracking them down in these biomes is more challenging because they roam around randomly. This means they won’t be in the same exact spots for each player. The easiest way to find them was to turn on sound cues so I could detect them by the noises they make.

How to Sneak Past Bears

When you encounter a bear, you will have two options: sneak past them or take them on face-to-face. Since bears are particularly sleepy animals, sneaking can be a great option if you don’t feel like fighting them.

The key to sneaking past the bears is to stay as quiet as possible. You can sneak by pressing the R-Stick in on the controller or pressing C on a keyboard. Sneaking doesn’t always guarantee you can get by them without detection; you’ll still have to play it slow and keep a good distance.

If a bear detects you, a red exclamation point will pop up above their heads, and they will chase after you. At this point, you don’t have much other option but to face them.

Best Way to Defeat a Bear

Bears are slower than wolves, but they pack a punch. They can charge at you and swing their sharp claws. Any type of weapon will work to damage them, but if you’re looking for the best way to take them down — I would suggest using a sword and shield.

I found a shield the best option when facing a bear because you can use it to block all their attacks. Their claws won’t be able to cut through your shield, meaning you can put up your shield to defend and then swing your sword to cut back when the timing is right. Of course, heaving some health charms is also a great way to make sure you’re well-protected before fighting them.

What do Bears drop?

All enemies and creatures drop something when you defeat them. It’s what makes each battle worth having. Unfortunately, the bears don’t drop anything new or particularly helpful. All you can get from defeating them is a stack of Meat. Usually, you can get around eight pieces of meat every time, which isn’t too bad if you’re looking to stay stocked up on food. Other than for food, though, you won’t find much of use.
