The original Octopath Traveler's been on Game Pass for over a year, but will Octopath Traveler 2 be as well?

Game Pass subscribers have had access to the original Octopath Traveler for almost two years, since it arrived on the service in March 2021. With the sequel about to drop for PC and console, it’s reasonable to wonder whether or not Octopath Traveler 2 will follow suit. Is Octopath Traveler 2 on Game Pass?

Will Octopath Traveler 2 be on Game Pass? – Answered

At time of writing, Octopath Traveler 2 isn’t coming to the Xbox platform at all, so it’s not going to appear on Game Pass in the immediate future. Instead, the sequel is planned for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 24.

Octopath Traveler 2‘s console versions also have two different physical releases. The Standard Edition only includes a physical copy of the game, while the Collector’s Edition comes with a box of goods that includes a soundtrack album, an art book, and eight metallic busts of its eight new travelers.

Note that Octopath Traveler 2 is only available digitally for PC via Steam. If you’re looking for extra swag with your purchase, or even just a physical disc, you’ll need to buy a console edition.

Is There a Release Date for Octopath Traveler 2 on Game Pass?

None of this is to say that Octopath Traveler II won’t come to Xbox, or to the Xbox Game Pass. The original Octopath Traveler was a Nintendo Switch exclusive on its debut in July 2018, and slowly made its way to a handful of other platforms over the course of the next three years. This included the Xbox One, and with it, the Game Pass. The first game has stayed on the service for almost two years, and is currently slated to leave the Game Pass roster on February 28.

It’s reasonable to assume that Octopath Traveler 2 might follow a similar path, particularly since a number of other high-profile JRPGs like the Persona titles recently arrived on Game Pass. It might be a year or two before it arrives on Xbox, however.
