So you’re plumbing the depths of Zaraleck Cavern looking for treasure. In your travels, you’ve probably heard of the Blazing Shadowflame Chest. But where is it, and how do you open it? Worry not, brave adventurer. We know, and we are here to share our secrets about where to find the Blazing Shadowflame Chest in World of Warcraft.
Blazing Shadowflame Chest Location
You’ll find the Blazing Shadowflame Chest in Zaqali Caldera, in the western part of Zaraleck Cavern. Zaqali Caldera is covered in lava, so you’ll probably want to fly in, but be warned: flying in Zaqali Caldera is dangerous.
Flying in Zaqali Caldera will earn you a debuff called Dragonslayer’s Sight that will continually stack as long as your in the air. If you’re taking a short flight, you have nothing to worry about. But at 10 stacks, they will shoot you down. The only way to stop that from happening is to land or leave the area. Keep that in mind as you search for the Blazing Shadowflame Chest.
You’ll find the chest at the bottom of a lava waterfall just east of the large bridge at the western part of the area. The chest’s coordinates are (28.53, 48.09). The platform the chest sits on is surrounded by lava, so you’ll need to fly (or jump) over to it.
How to Open the Blazing Shadowflame Chest
Getting to the chest isn’t enough. You’ll have to have an Onyxia Scale Cloak to open it. This cloak first appeared all the way back in Vanilla WoW. Talk about a throwback!
How to Get an Onyxia Scale Cloak
To get one, you’ll have to either make it yourself using the leatherworking profession or buy one from the auction house.
If you don’t know to make it, you’ll have to kill Onyxia and turn in the “A Most Puzzling Circumstance” quest, which you receive when you loot her head. Then you’ll have to complete “The Journey Has Just Begun,” which will reward you with the pattern.
To make the cloak, you’ll need 300 skill in Classic leatherworking. You’ll also need a Cindercloth Cloak, Scale of Onyxia, and Rune Thread for materials.
All in all, it’s a loteasier to just buy it from the auction house. Once you have the Onyxia Scale Cloak, you’ll be able to open the chest.
