XDefiant Beta: How to Sign Up and Play

Looking to play Ubisoft's XDefiant? Here's how to sign up for the upcoming Open Session.

No matter if you’ve played it before or it just caught your interest, you don’t have to wait much longer to check out Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter XDefiant. An open beta is going live for a few days next week, although it might not be as simple as downloading it straight from your platform’s store page. This is how to get everything sorted out so you can join and play the XDefiant beta.

How to Sign Up for the XDefiant Open Beta

A Ubisoft News Post only mentions a crucial first step in signing up for the beta. Here’s a full breakdown of what seemingly needs to be done so you can be ready to play come next week.

  • Head over to the official website at PlayXDefiant.com.
  • Click on either of the buttons that mention registering or scroll down until you find the “Welcome to the XDefiant Registration Page” box.
  • Choose between PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5 as your preferred platform to play the beta on.
  • Click the Register button and log into your Ubisoft Account.
    • If you don’t have one already, click on Create an Account to make one.
  • Answer or skip the optional questionnaire and you’ll be all set.

Overall, this seems to follow the same procedure as registering in hopes of being chosen for the previous closed beta. Most open betas are typically added to the platform’s respective store so any player can download it, but the aforementioned news post does specify that players need to sign up for this one.

Unless it does end up going up for everyone as most open betas would, we can only presume at this time that an email will be sent to your connected email address with a key to redeem a beta build for your platform of choice. We recommend going through the above steps to ensure you’re able to play.

When is the XDefiant Open Beta?

As first seen at the Ubisoft Forward event, the XDefiant Open Beta will be available for everyone from June 21st to June 23rd. According to a tweet from XDefiant Twitter account, those who played the closed beta will be able to join one day earlier on June 20th. No matter which day you join, the supported platforms remain the same – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

That will cover everything you need to know about how to sign up for the XDefiant open beta. If you’d like to read first-hand experience playing it, I was lucky enough to play a preview build back in April. For any other questions you might have leading up to or during the beta, including how to fix some errors we came across during the closed beta, check out our XDefiant guides hub.
