One of Call of Duty: Warzone‘s new modes, called King Slayer Trios, is absolute chaos and a ton of fun. It’s effectively a deathmatch consisting of three players on each team. The gas around you changes position, and with a total of around 50 players or so vying for victory, things get hectic fast. This tips guide will lead you through it.

The rules are simple: the first team to 100 points wins. Here’s how points break down:

  • Each kill is 1 point
  • Killing a King, a high-value target marked on the map, earns you 5 points.

It’s a challenging game mode to master because of how crazy things get. Killstreaks are common, meaning constant explosions are going off, and the gas around you is continually moving. However, there are a lot of things you can do to ensure you come out on top.

Choose Your Perks Wisely

Since King Slayer Trios is such a fast-paced mode, you’ll want to make sure your perks are suited to that style of gameplay.

One thing to consider is that your enemy will most likely spam the UAV. So it’s a good idea to use the Ghost perk, which keeps you off the radar when a UAV is active.

On the flip side, using killstreak related perks like Pointman and Killchain aren’t useful since you don’t rack up killstreaks the same way you do in regular Call of Duty multiplayer.

It’s recommended to use perks that adhere to a fast mode like this one. We recommend:

  • Amped
  • Quick Fix
  • E.O.D.

All of these perks have a direct impact on your character, and since they speed up things like health regen and weapon swapping, they’re worth using here.

Watch Over Skull Crates For Easy Kills

While playing King Slayer Trios, you’ll see care packages drop around the map. A yellow skull indicates them.

These boxes contain killstreaks, but it’s often too risky to go for them since the crates show up on your enemy’s screen, too.

Instead, what we’d recommend is to get a good view of one of the crates and guard it, as enemies will likely pour in trying to grab what’s inside. Better yet is if you can swoop in and pick up its contents without being taken out.

Pick up as Many Killstreaks as Possible

While it’s tempting to always go for the next kill in any Warzone match, exploring the great indoors is a great way to find killstreaks that will help you achieve victory.

There are a few to choose from, like:

  • UAVs
  • Advanced UAVs
  • Cluster Strikes
  • Precision Airstrikes

These can be found lying around, or more commonly in supply crates. The orange Legendary crates often have multiple killstreaks, so don’t ignore them when you’re running around.

Don’t Ignore the Gas

As the gas moves, the safe area changes. If you aren’t paying attention, you can get overrun quickly.

It’s always a good idea to check the map to see where the gas is. This will not only prevent you from dying to the gas, but you can use it to your advantage by placing your back to it, creating a defensive barrier.

If there are players still caught in the gas, keep in mind that their health will be lower than normal, so be sure to take the shot if you can.

Rocket Launchers Come in Handy

Aiming down the sight of a rocket launcher in a small room toward a player looking up.

One wild tactic you can use to get early kills is to switch to your rocket launchers while free-falling and taking a shot at those below you. It doesn’t always result in a kill, but assuming your aim is decent, you can usually at least break the enemy’s armor and follow up with your primary weapon.

Aside from that, rocket launchers are tremendously useful while on the ground, too. Many times, players aren’t expecting you to shoot a rocket at them, so try to take them by surprise if possible.

So Do Snipers and Marksman Rifles

Aiming down an ACOG sight over country sheds and buildings into an open field with enemies.

Although the space you have to work with in King Slayer Trios is small, it’s still big enough to warrant using a long-range weapon like a sniper. Seriously, players are often too preoccupied with what’s in front of them that they don’t look anywhere else.

Use this to your advantage and find a nice spot high up. Pick people off as they land or while they’re duking it out on the ground. You’ll rack up kills this way, and you’ll have the perfect vantage point to call in an airstrike below you.

Make sure you add attachments to the sniper/marksman rifle that increase your speed aiming down the sights since you’ll likely come across a slew of enemies in each match.

Tag Enemies as You Parachute Down

This is a simple one tip, but make sure you ping enemies as you parachute down to the ground. This can help your team grab some kills they might’ve otherwise missed  and it can protect them from an enemy who has them in their sights.

While free-falling, you have a view of nearly the entire area, so spam the ping button (up on the D-pad) to let your teammates know who’s near.

Prioritize the Kings

One of the most important tips we can give you is to go out of your way to kill Kings. These are enemies indicated by the red crown icon on your radar and can be seen carrying a flag.

You become a King when you gain a lot of kills, and killing one earns you 5 points instead of one. Additionally, you can earn killstreaks by killing a King, so it’s in your best interest to make a beeline towards them to try and get the kill.

As a king, you show up on your map, regardless of if you have the Ghost perk, meaning other players will attempt to prioritize them, as well. So keep that in mind.

There’s a lot of nuance involved with King Slayer Trios, but hopefully, this tips and tricks guide has helped make things a bit easier for you. For more on Warzone, be sure to check out its main hub here
