How to Find Rockbomb Shards in Dragon Quest Builders 2

This guide shows you how and where to find Rockbomb Shards in Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Rockbomb Shards are needed to make one of the better mid-game weapons in Dragon Quest Builders 2: the Fire Blade. However, finding Rockbomb Shards isn’t as clear cut as it might seem.

Near the end of your time on Khrumbul-Dun, you’ll be tasked with finding gold veins deep within the mines beneath the village. As you make your way to your objective, you’ll eventually encounter a Heal Slime. The Slime will tell you that you can make Boomballs, but it doesn’t tell you how to do so or where you can find the materials you need.

Luckily, the materials you need are very close by.

Khrumbul-Dun Rockbomb Bed

Warp to the Southeast Tunnel naviglobe on the lower level of the mine.

When you warp in, turn around and go straight ahead. The wall ahead should be open already if you’ve found the Gold Room via the quest for it (which is part of the larger “find gold in Khrumbul-Dun” mission near the end of the chapter).

When you drop down as you’re going toward the gold room, look at the black rocks on the ground. Smash them with your hammer to get shards.

Some are Rockbomb enemies you’ll have to defeat, some are not. Some rocks give Rockbomb Shards, some simply give stone. It’s completely random.

If the Rockbomb enemies shake and start a countdown above their heads, they’re about to blow up. Use your hammer the damage them faster.

Note that you can also get these shards on Iridescent Island. They are mostly out in the open out on the beach and near cliffs.

How to Craft the Fireblade

The Fire Blade is one of the more powerful swords in the game. It has +74 attack and is enhanced with fire magic. It’s a great weapon to give your fighters.

Here are the materials you need to craft it:

  • X1 Steel Broadsword (can’t get until Moonbrooke)
  • X3 Rockbomb Shard
  • X3 Magic Crystal

How to Craft Boom Balls

Boom Balls are great for destroying a large number of blocks at a single time. They can also come in handy when fighting Super-Strong Monsters but to a lesser effect.

Here are the materials you need to craft them:

  • X1 Rockbomb Shard
  • 1x Iron Ingot
  • 1x Cord

That’s all you need to know about Rockbomb Shards in Dragon Quest Builders 2. Be sure to head over to our DQB2 guide hub for more tips on the game, such as how to find flurry feathers or how to get Night Soil
