Spider-Man 2: How to Unlock Fast Travel

Spider-Man 2 requires a lot of swinging around the city, but how do you fast travel?

Spider-Man 2 has improved traversal from the previous games in a big way. Whether you’re swinging through the city or flying through it, you’ll move super fast. But what about jumping to a new place in an instant? Here’s how to unlock fast travel in Spider-Man 2.

Fast Travel in Spider-Man 2, Explained

To unlock fast travel for an area, you must fill up the progress bar in a District up to the second node. For each District, the first progress bar/node will grant you 2 Rare Tech Parts, the second bar will grant you fast travel, and the third will reward you with 2 Hero Tokens. A checkmark appears in the upper right of each node once you’ve unlocked the rewards for it.

Once you complete a District up to the second node, you unlock the ability to fast travel there any time. Go to the map in your menu screen, select the district you want to travel to, and press the triangle button. Fast travel happens instantaneously in Spider-Man 2, much like it does in 2018’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Miles Morales.

If you’re set on traversing New York City without fast travel, I’ve found that you can do so faster than ever before with the new Web Wings. The speed boosts throughout the city have you soaring to your destination in no time, and they’re one of my favorite ways to get around. Web swinging is much faster, as well, and chasing stolen cars is a great way to discover this, as you can track them down much faster than in Spider-Man or Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

How to Fill Up District Progress Bars

Getting all of the bars filled, including the second fast travel bar, requires fighting the local criminals, completing Marko’s Memories, or finding Photo Ops, among other things like Prowler Stashes and EMF Experiments, to name a few.

The requirements differ, and some Districts have more activities or crimes than others, so be prepared for some variety here. For example, there are three Photo Ops in Little Odessa and only one in Williamsburg. You can see how many of each activity is in an area via the list on the left side when highlighting a district. You can do them at any pace, for the most part, including some before you complete the campaign.

There are 14 Districts to explore across New York City:

  • Harlem
  • Upper West Side
  • Central Park
  • Upper East Side
  • Midtown
  • Hell’s Kitchen
  • Greenwich
  • Financial District
  • Chinatown
  • Downtown Brooklyn
  • Williamsburg
  • Little Odessa
  • Downtown Queens
  • Astoria
