Fortnite Hideouts Locations and How to Use Them

Hay bales and dumpsters are now potential threats in Fortnite chapter 2 as the hideout system allows you to remain hidden without pretending to be a bush!

We’ve gone from being a bush to hiding out in dumpsters with the battle royale re-launch of Chapter 2. Fortnite Hideouts are the latest way to get the drop on your opponent and snag a Victory Royale — if you know where to find them!

It may not be Call Of Duty’s Prop Hunt mode, but you’ve now got to be on the lookout for potentially killer objects when heading into any area with buildings and certain outdoor locations with hay.

Finding Fortnite Hideouts

For now, there are only two types of hideouts: hay bales and metal dumpsters. We can probably expect other objects to join the list in later seasons and the new Chapter 2 mechanics are tinkered with in the coming months.

To use a hideout, just face the object and press the interact button to hide inside, then press it again to pop out when an enemy’s back is turned and you are ready to start shooting.

Now you need to know where to find them though, as they are necessary to complete several weekly challenges.

Frenzy Farm is the best place to find hay bales, and lots of ’em. If you land there, you should be able to see several from the air as you make your way down to the ground.

Nearly any location with buildings is where to look for dumpster hideouts, but your best bets are business type locations such as the gas station in Salty Springs.

Hideouts popping up at random across the map is leading to paranoid game of cat and mouse, with players now shooting hay bales and dumpsters out of habit. It’s not a bad idea just to be safe… except that the sound will reveal your location to anyone nearby who isn’t hiding in the garbage or hay.

Have you managed to get a kill using a hideout yet or avoided a squad of enemies with these nifty new additions to the game? Sound off in the comments below.
