Hogwarts Legacy: Best PC Specs for Minimum Requirements

Here are the recommended best PC specs for setups hitting minimum requirements in Hogwarts Legacy.

Is it possible to achieve the best performance results in Hogwarts Legacy with the minimum system specs of your PC? The answer is yes and no. Ultimately, it depends on the capabilities of the setup. It is also important to note the importance of DLSS technology when thinking about performance, which is currently only available in Nvidia’s RTX line of GPUs.

Best PC Specs for Minimum Requirements

Best Minimum GPU Specs

If you look at the minimum system requirements for Hogwarts Legacy, you will notice that developer WB Games suggests using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 4GB or AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB. But we actually would strongly recommend the following two models instead:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB.
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB.

Although GTX 960 can run Hogwarts Legacy, you may notice that your FPS will drop significantly in certain areas, and there is little to nothing you can do about it. But with a slight upgrade to a GTX 1070, your GPU memory bus, clock, and bandwidth will be increased significantly for much better performance. The same goes for RX Vega 56, which is better than the outdated RX 470.

Best Minimum CPU Specs

A similar approach is required when choosing the best CPU for minimum performance in Hogwarts Legacy, and while the developer suggests Intel Core i5-6600 (3.3 GHz) or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (3.2 GHz), here’s what we recommend instead:

  • Intel Core i5-8400 (2.8 GHz).
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (3.4 GHz).

Intel Core i5-8400 is only a tad more expensive than an i5-6600, but it has a bigger L3 cache (9 MB), higher overclock tolerance (100 °C), and higher memory bandwidth (41.6 GB/s). The same goes for Ryzen 5 2600, which is very much in the similar price range, but has more threads (12), increased L3 cache (16 MB), and increased memory bandwidth (46.933 GB/s).

Other Minimum Specs

The quality of your RAM also plays a significant role, and here, the brand can really matter. We recommend either XPG Z1 Memory Modules or Silicon Power XPOWER Turbine. Both brands are not too expensive (under $100), but both are specifically tuned to action RPGs such as Hogwarts Legacy.

The best minimum SSD, and we do recommend playing only on SSD for faster load times, would be PNY CS900, which will cost you under ~$50 and provide read/write speeds of 535/515 MB/s, which is excellent for such a low price range.
