Though titled as the second entry, Bravely Default 2 is the third entry to the series and breaks away from the story featured in the original title and its direct sequel Bravely Second: End Layer.
Bravely Default 2, and by extension its predecessors, follows the trends of JRPGs of past generations. The game features a turn-based battle system not unlike the classic Final Fantasy series as well as a job class system reminiscent of Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy Tactics, among others. Players can level jobs and learn new skills using a Job Point system, something players of the aforementioned titles would be well familiar with.
Taking the Heroes of Light trope in its hand, Bravely Default 2 is firmly a classic style RPG.
