Anytime a new minion is added to Final Fantasy XIV, it’s always a hot commodity, and you’re bound to see dozens wandering around the lands of Eorzea with it. The Mama Automaton, added with Patch 6.3, is a cute little ghost that will diligently float by your side. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to get your hands on, so here’s what you need to know.
How to Unlock the Mama Automaton Minion

The Mama Automaton Minion is pretty easy to get, as it’s simply one of the new prizes added to The Gold Saucer. Head on over to the massive casino, and go to the Prize Claim counter, then select “Prize Claim III.” Here you’ll see a list of all the prizes, including the Mama Automaton, which will cost you 30,000 MGP.
If you have enough MGP, simply buy the minion, then head into your inventory and use the item to obtain it. If you need a little extra MGP, we have some tips to help.
Tips For Getting More MGP
Getting 30,000 MGP is, luckily, pretty much a breeze. The first thing you should do is take part in the weekly Fashion Report at The Golden Saucer. Simply taking part will earn you a cool 10K MGP, but if you manage to get a high enough grade, you’ll get an extra 50K, which means you can go buy the Mama Automaton right away.
If you need a little extra, however, simply open up your Challenge Log and click on The Golden Saucer tab. Here you’ll see a variety of challenges that can be completed each week to earn extra MGP, and the log generally has about 90,000 you can get in total. Simply pick out a couple to complete, and you should be good in no time.
