It will also have a special move called Plasma Fists, which turns all Normal-type attacks into Electric-type attacks for that turn.

GameStop will also be handing out special double-sided posters to those who pre-order Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!

Nintendo has posted all of the information for Zeraora and how to obtain it via code, as listed here:

Pokemon GO Bringing Alolan Forms of Pokemon Soon https://www.gameskinny.com/vq0ye/pokemon-go-bringing-alolan-forms-of-pokemon-soon https://www.gameskinny.com/vq0ye/pokemon-go-bringing-alolan-forms-of-pokemon-soon Mon, 21 May 2018 15:26:15 -0400 Zach Hunt

Pokemon GO developer Niantic surprised everyone today by announcing that Alolan forms of Pokemon will soon be coming to the popular mobile game.

First appearing in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Alolan forms of Pokemon are based on first-generation Pokemon, so it appears Niantic isn't quite ready to introduce the fourth-gen monsters into Pokemon GO just yet.

Eighteen Gen-One Pokemon have Alolan forms, but it's not yet known just which ones we'll be seeing or how the release of them will work. The teaser image, as seen above, provides silhouettes of a decent number of these Kanto region inhabitants, so it's probably safe to assume we could see them all at some point.

No specific release dates were mentioned -- only that they'd be popping up in "the coming weeks" -- but stick with GameSkinny for all the news, tips, and information on Pokemon GO you need. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

New Pokemon are coming! Pokemon Go just sent out a new update, showcasing 10 of the 23 new Pokemon that will be released from the Hoenn region, the world you explore in both Sapphire and Ruby. Although the recent titles Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are far fresher in many Pokemon gamers' minds, this won't change the excitement many trainers have.

Even though there are only 10 Pokemon showcased in the image, it would be safe to assume that pre-evolution and evolution forms of the revealed Pokemon will also be released. But here is a quick list of the Pokemon we do know!

  • Whismur, NPokedex entry #293.
  • Aron, NPokedex entry #304
  • Aggron, NPokedex entry #306
  • Camerupt, NPokedex entry #323
  • Trapinch, NPokedex entry #328
  • Cacnea, NPokedex entry #331
  • Flygon, NPokedex entry #330
  • Lunatone, NPokedex entry #337
  • Solrock, NPokedex entry #338
  • Groudon, NPokedex entry #383

You can find more information regarding these Pokemon at Bulbapedia and start building your teams around these new reveals, if you so wish! Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Pokemon Go news!

So why did The Pokemon Company choose to do all this in 2018? J.C. Pokemon Crystal Will Be Available on 3DS Next Year https://www.gameskinny.com/fcwmv/pokemon-crystal-will-be-available-on-3ds-next-year https://www.gameskinny.com/fcwmv/pokemon-crystal-will-be-available-on-3ds-next-year Sun, 17 Dec 2017 11:29:53 -0500 Lee Forgione

Like every version preceding it, Pokemon Crystal Version will soon be available to purchase on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Nintendo announced that Crystal Version will be coming to 3DS on January 26, 2017, and will be priced at $9.99. Additional features will be added to the game as well.

Specifically, Crystal will be compatible with the Pokemon Bank, allowing players to carry over whatever they catch into the newer titles such as Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. It will also allow for cross battle and trading with older versions, like Red, Blue, and Yellow, through a feature called Time Capsule.

Upon completing the game, players will have a chance to capture Celebi through an in-game event. This is in contrast to the original Pokemon Crystal, which required a special accessory called the Game Shark to cheat your way to obtaining this rare Pokemon.

Nintendo also states that with the release of Pokemon Crystal, it will now be possible to carry Pokemon from all 29 core games in the series over to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Pokemon Go Update Adds Weather, Parties, and Storage https://www.gameskinny.com/5swej/pokemon-go-update-adds-weather-parties-and-storage https://www.gameskinny.com/5swej/pokemon-go-update-adds-weather-parties-and-storage Fri, 08 Dec 2017 14:13:27 -0500 Ainyan

Niantic has announced an upcoming patch to its popular mobile ARG, Pokémon Go, which will release 50 new Pokémon from the Hoenn region and add a dynamic weather system to the game. In a recent update on their website, Niantic offered more details about the upcoming weather effects system, as well as two more inclusions: Battle Parties and Increased Pokémon Storage.

In the upcoming update, Pokémon Go will begin to reflect local weather conditions, including sunny days, rain, and snow. During these weather events, certain Pokémon will be more likely to appear. These Pokémon will yield bonus Stardust when captured and are more likely to be more powerful than their normal counterparts. Additionally, moves will also be affected by the appropriate weather; Fire-types will have more potency during sunny days, while Water-type moves will be more powerful when rain is falling.

In addition to the weather update, Niantic is offering players the ability to create Battle Parties, preset teams of up to six Pokémon that trainers can switch to when forming up for a raid. These Battle Parties will allow trainers who frequent Raid Battles to keep sets of Pokémon to battle each of the raid bosses, allowing for easy switching. Players should note that this feature is in beta and that, for now, sets will be saved per device. Niantic has stated that they are planning to allow parties to be saved by account in a future release.

The third update announced by Niantic is an increase in available Pokémon storage. With the introduction of Generation III, Niantic plans to increase the maximum collection size from 1,000 Pokémon to 1,500. Additionally, the base collection size will be increased by 50, so all trainers will find they can capture more Pokémon.

What do you think of the changes coming to Pokémon Go? Will the release of Generation III get you back out on the streets to Catch 'Em All? Will the new systems add to gameplay or create unnecessary clutter instead? Answer in the comments below!

Pokémon Go released on July 6, 2016 on iOS and Android mobile devices. Gameplay requires an active internet connection.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Update: New Story Details and Ultra Beasts https://www.gameskinny.com/v00ug/pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-update-new-story-details-and-ultra-beasts https://www.gameskinny.com/v00ug/pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-update-new-story-details-and-ultra-beasts Thu, 05 Oct 2017 14:58:08 -0400 Joshua Broadwell

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon details have been slow in coming up to now. But today, there's a new trailer (see above) and a wealth of new story information from the Pokemon Company. As was hinted at in the games' first reveal, the story takes a more central role in the upcoming sequels, with new characters, a mysterious new Team, and even more of the enigmatic Ultra Beasts.

Remember the Ultra Wormholes from the original Pokemon Sun and Moon? According to the Pokemon Company, they make a return in the sequels, and you'll be travelling through them on Solgaleo and Lunaala. They take you to "new worlds", and the new trailer details one of them in particular: Ultra Megalopolis. This is a city ruled by Necrozma, who's stolen all the light, except that which shines at the top of a strange tower.

You'll also be meeting the Recon Squad, a mysterious group from beyond the Wormholes whose goals are yet unknown. What is known is that you'll get a different version of the story depending on which version of the game you play. For Ultra Sun, you see Recon Squad members Dulse and Zozzie's story, while Soliera and Phyco will take center stage in Ultra Moon.

There are also a host of new Ultra Beasts, one of which is associated with the Recon Squad: UB Adhesive. This one is a Poison type. Its head is full of venom, and it spews it forth via a needle at the top of its head. It can also understand human speech and displays a variety of complex emotions as well.

The other two Ultra Beasts are version exclusives: UB Burst for Ultra Sun, and UB Assembly in Ultra Moon. UB Burst is a Fire/Ghost type. Its head is made up of odd sparks, and it has the curious ability of making its head explode, as you see in the trailer. A favorite trick of UB Burst's is to lure its opponents into a false sense of security through odd behavior and then detonate its head. UB Assembly is a Rock/Steel type and is actually comprised of a variety of different organisms. Each stone in its body is an independent lifeform, and when it confronts foes, a red eye in each stone lights up.

In case you missed it, there was also a Japanese trailer released a short time ago that emphasizes the more dramatic elements of the story, including Necrozma's role in it. You can find that below.

Let us know in the comments what you think about the new details and Ultra Beasts!

Ishihara Talks Pokemon's Future, Switch Possibility https://www.gameskinny.com/8nt0o/ishihara-talks-pokemons-future-switch-possibility https://www.gameskinny.com/8nt0o/ishihara-talks-pokemons-future-switch-possibility Wed, 06 Sep 2017 14:57:35 -0400 adelgirl

In June, Pokemon CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, revealed in an interview that a new Pokemon game was being considered for the Nintendo Switch. And although there has been no confirmation that such a title is currently in development, Ishihara has revealed what he considers benchmarks for the game, as well as why the Nintendo Switch would potentially be a platform of interest for a future Pokemon installment.

Ishihara said that the Nintendo Switch is a unique and powerful device that allows game developers interesting freedom when it comes to developing games, especially those in the Pokemon universe. Speaking to Bloomberg writer Yuji Nakamura, Ishihara said:

“With the Switch, we see it as a chance to create Pokemon that goes deeper and with a higher level of expression. As a result, that makes it an extremely important platform.”

Ishihara continued to say that entirely new worlds can be expressed through the Switch and its hardware capabilities, as opposed to the "7- to 8-inch screens" for which many current Pokemon titles are released. And although Pokemon Go, the popular mobile collectathon game, has been successful, Ishihara told Bloomberg that development for the Switch and smartphones is different -- especially when it comes to connectivity and the development decisions that surround it.

“Unlike smartphones, the Switch is not a game device that assumes that there’s constant network connectivity. So from our perspective, [the Switch is] really not that different from DS or 3DS in terms of connectivity.”

Ishihara also spoke with Nakamura about augmented reality, and the Switch's family-centric nature -- and what role each of those might play in a future Pokemon title.

On augmented reality:

“With current AR, even if you say Pikachu is there, no one really thinks that. But that reality is just one step away ...

On the ubiquity of the Nintendo Switch:

Until now, games were made as one for one person, but now you can go home and play with everyone -- so how do we tackle these themes, and how do we make sure it’s not complicated?”

As of this writing, there is no concrete information on the development of a Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch, but the next installments in the franchise will be Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which are set to release November 17.

What do you think about a Pokemon game possibly being made for the Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments below!

In a Tweet posted to the official Pokemon account on August 18th, the new looks for the main characters in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were revealed.

While there do not appear to be any new hair colors or skin tones to choose from at the start of the game, we can tell from the image that there will be new hairstyles and clothing in the game. The photo shows hair styles and clothing that were not available in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

It is possible that these are the only new hair and clothing options available in the game, but we cannot know this for sure until more is revealed about the game.

At this time, not much has been revealed about the game, other than a new form for Lycanroc that will only be available via download. But there's sure to be more information coming ahead of the game's release, so keep checking back with GameSkinny for any updates!

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: New Form Details from the Pokemon Company https://www.gameskinny.com/cl2ig/pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-new-form-details-from-the-pokemon-company https://www.gameskinny.com/cl2ig/pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-new-form-details-from-the-pokemon-company Tue, 15 Aug 2017 12:39:20 -0400 Joshua Broadwell

Apart from a short teaser earlier in the summer, The Pokemon Company has been rather silent about Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the upcoming sequels to last year's wildly successful Pokemon Sun and Moon games. However, a short while back, it revealed Dusk Form Lycanroc, a brand new Pokemon form, and recently offered a wealth of details about it.

Like its Midday and Midnight counterparts, Dusk Form Lycanroc evolves from the irresistibly cute Rockruff and retains its Rock-type nature. It also combines the best of both evolved forms in terms of personality and appearance. Like Midday Lycanroc, the Dusk Form is quadrupedal and unfailingly loyal, but its eyes flash red when attacking an opponent, just as Midnight Lycanroc's do. Dusk Form Lycanroc sports the Midday form's rock necklace too -- though it doesn't seem visible in the photos released -- and complements it with the Midnight form's mane, adding its own unique dusky coloration to set the whole look off.

Dusk Form Lycanroc also gets an interesting mix of old and new for its combat, and the Pokemon Company expects players to develop new battle styles than they were used to with the previous forms as a result. It learns the Midday form's Accelrock, a Rock-type version of Quick Attack that goes first every time, and Midnight's Fighting-type Counter, a more passive move that deals high damage if the user is attacked by a foe in that turn. However, Dusk Form Lycanroc also gets its own ability, Tough Claws, which raises the power of physical attacks.

Yet you won't be able evolve any Rockruff by leveling it up bathed in the setting sun's fiery glow. Dusk Form Lycanroc only evolves from a special Rockruff, and that Rockruff will only be available via special distribution. Like the special Munchlax in Sun and Moon, this Rockruff will be available for a decent period of time, from the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launch date of November 17 until January 10, 2018.

There is another piece of Lycanroc news that is sure to delight collectors and fans of fuzzy-wuzzies alike: plush Dusk Form Lycanroc. Siliconera reports that as of now, the plush is only listed on Japanese sites, with no word yet on Western availability. At the very least, this is one import you don't have to understand Japanese to completely enjoy.

Introducing Plush Form Lycanroc! I'll take twenty...

Does this new form mean there will be more new Pokemon forms to follow? Will dusk play a central role like day and night did in the original Sun and Moon? Only time will tell, but be sure to check back for any new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon updates!

Pokemon Direct Announced for Tommorow https://www.gameskinny.com/69eeo/pokemon-direct-announced-for-tommorow https://www.gameskinny.com/69eeo/pokemon-direct-announced-for-tommorow Mon, 05 Jun 2017 11:16:59 -0400 eleccross

The official Nintendo of America Twitter has just announced that a new Pokemon Direct will be streamed tomorrow, June 6, at 7 AM PDT (10 AM EST, 3 PM BST, 4 PM CEST).

The direct will only last about 8 minutes, so fans shouldn't expect to see too much. It's likely to be just a few smaller announcements that haven't made the cut for Nintendo's E3 showcase next week. But of course, you never really know with Nintendo -- they could tease something big ahead of the show, like the supposed third game to Pokemon Sun and Moon, speculated to be called Pokemon Stars.

It's possible that one of the games shown will be their Western announcement for PokeLand, a new take on the Pokemon Rumble series for iOS and Android that already has a beta going in Japan.

Fans can watch the Direct via Nintendo's official YouTube channel, its official Twitch channel, or over on the Nintendo website

Even if you can't tune in, check back here on GameSkinny to see what unfolds in this Direct right as it's happening!

Magikarp Jump Releases on Mobile Devices https://www.gameskinny.com/ixhc2/magikarp-jump-releases-on-mobile-devices https://www.gameskinny.com/ixhc2/magikarp-jump-releases-on-mobile-devices Thu, 25 May 2017 12:52:41 -0400 Erroll Maas

The Pokémon Company International has announced that the newest Pokémon mobile game, Magikarp Jump, is now available for free download on iOS and Android devices

In Magikarp Jump, players will catch their very own Magikarp, then feed and train it to maximize its jumping potential to become league champion. If a player's Magikarp gets knocked out of contention or retires once they reach level 20 -- the level Magikarp would normally evolve into Gyarados -- the player will start the game over with a new generation of Magikarp. This new generation will start its life a bit stronger than the last, encouraging players to continue training their new Pokémon as they progress.

According to the press release, some Pokémon will either stop by to help players out while raising their Magikarp -- or interfere with a Magikarp's training. They'll do this by either giving Magikarp food to help with its nourishment or other items along the way. Other Pokémon may swoop in and take Magikarp away when they get the opportunity.

Magikarp Jump also features optional in-app purchases, which can help speed training, replenish food, and catch more Magikarp. Decor can also be purchased to decorate and customize a Magikarp's habitat.

Magikarp Jump is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is the fifth mobile game based on the Pokémon franchise and the first to be released since Pokémon GO in 2016.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more news and information on Magikarp Jump

3 Franchises Nintendo Needs to Touch On This E3 https://www.gameskinny.com/xvnec/3-franchises-nintendo-needs-to-touch-on-this-e3 https://www.gameskinny.com/xvnec/3-franchises-nintendo-needs-to-touch-on-this-e3 Thu, 04 May 2017 15:00:01 -0400 Erroll Maas

E3, the biggest video game event of the year, is right around the corner. Microsoft, PlayStation, and Bethesda have already announced the dates, times, and some featured content for their conferences, but what about Nintendo?

Now that their new handheld hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch, is released and is selling extremely well along with some of its  games-- such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 DX-- not to mention plenty of already available and upcoming indie titles, what else does Nintendo have to show us? There are 3 important franchises from Nintendo's past which they should touch upon this E3, and they are the following:

1. Metroid

There hasn't been a proper Metroid game since 2007's Metroid Prime 3: Corruption,  even last year during the 30th anniversary of the franchise, so the series is due for another title which even the biggest Metroid  fan will be able to enjoy.

The last game to be released in the franchise was the Nintendo 3DS game, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a cooperative first person shooter which bared little resemblance to the Metroid series and seemingly had the name tacked on. The game received mixed to negative reviews after release, and most fans haven't been very fond of it ever since it's initial announcement. Producer Kensuke Tanabe hoped the plot of Metroid Prime: Federation Force would lead to a future Metroid Prime game focusing on the relationship beween Samus and Sylux, a character introduced in Metroid Prime Hunters who followed Samus and the end of Metroid Prime 3, with some added involvement from the Galactic Federation.

The developers of the Metroid Prime series, Retro Studios, has been working on a new game--not yet announced--for awhile, so lets hope it's a brand new and true Metroid game for the Nintendo Switch, and a true successor to the Metroid Prime series.

For a Metroid game on the Switch, they could even add a multiplayer mode similar to Metroid Prime Hunters as an extra feature, which may help interest those who aren't as enthusiastic about the series.

2. Super Smash Bros.

After the release and success of Mario Kart 8 DX, the fastest selling game in the Mario Kart franchise, this should be a no-brainer. Nintendo could even call it Super Smash Bros. DX if they wanted to.

Like its kart racing counterpart,  Super Smash Bros DX would feature all previous DLC characters and stages, as well as a few balancing tweaks.

The definitive version of the Nintendo crossover game would also feature a few new stages and characters. The new characters could be Bomberman, an older video game character--although a bit younger than Pac-Man-- who has recently made his return after a few years of absence, on the Nintendo Switch with Super Bomberman R. Inkling Girl and Boy --as a skin swap for the same character-- from Splatoon, and either Spring Man or Ribbon Girl from upcoming Nintendo fighting game, ARMS, would be the other 2 new characters. Each new character would also help add a new stage based on their respective games.

Obviously there are plenty of other characters and stages Nintendo could add to their definitive version of Super Smash Bros., but these three seem to be likely contenders.

3. Pokémon

The seventh generation of mainline Pokémon games, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, only came out last year, but players need to know which rumors, if any, are true. The third, updated version for the seventh generation of Pocket Monsters, possibly called Pokémon Stars, has been heavily rumored for awhile now. In addition to this, dataminers have found files with certain unused assets, such as walking Pokemon sprites akin to those in Pokémon Heartgold and Pokémon Soulsilver versions, the fourth generation DS remakes of the second generation games, Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal versions for the Game Boy Color. Just recently, there has also been speculation that Nintendo may be starting to tease the existence of Pokémon Stars with their new "Look Upon the Stars" line of merchandise exclusive to Japan. Junichi Masuda, composer, director, producer, designer, and producer of Pokémon previously tweeted a moon right before the reveal of Pokémon Sun and Moon, so fans should keep an eye out for more hints leading up to E3.

Pokémon Stars may not be the only future Pokémon game, however, as there is also a possibility of remakes for the fourth generation of games, Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, and Pokémon Platinum versions. This is due to the numerous references in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon which reference different things from the fourth generation including: Sinnoh Elite Four Champion, Cynthia, being an opponent at the Battle Tree, notes in the dimensional research lab on the Ultra Beast which mention the Pokémon Giratina, Palkia, and Bronzong, and a lab in the Aether Paradise area which contains files about the development of Type: Null, a seventh generation Pokémon based off of Arceus from the fourth generation, which claim that materials for development were collected from the Canalave library, as well as a few less notable references.

One other possibility for the next Pokémon game, which would be a bold move and probably not as likely, would be full HD remakes of the original games but featuring some Pokémon from every region in addition to the original 151. In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, the main character and their mother are originally from Kanto, Red and Blue make an appearance at the battle tree, and at the end of the games story the characters Lillie and Hau go on separate adventures to the Kanto region.

In addition to these in game references, the Pokémon anime is getting an alternate movie reboot this summer with Pokémon I Choose You!--titled after the first episode of the anime series, which features new characters as well as Pokémon from later generations not originally present in the first series. So, why not have a game based off of that same concept? It may not be as likely of a game to exist as the other choices, and it's possible they could just add the Kanto region to Pokémon Stars, but a full HD remake is definitely still a possibility as well. With a few different options on the table, Nintendo's bound to mention at least one of them.

Those are 3 important franchises Nintendo should touch on during this years E3. The date and time of Nintendo's presumed digital event is yet to be announced, but news should be coming soon with E3 right around the corner. Be  sure to tune in and keep an eye out for these 3 franchises.

Pokemon Duel Sneaks its Way Onto the App Store Today https://www.gameskinny.com/tbff5/pokemon-duel-sneaks-its-way-onto-the-app-store-today https://www.gameskinny.com/tbff5/pokemon-duel-sneaks-its-way-onto-the-app-store-today Tue, 24 Jan 2017 06:59:40 -0500 Clayton Reisbeck

Today, The Pokemon Company quietly launched a new game called Pokemon Duel on the App Store and Google Play.

The game revolves around building a deck of 6 different Pokemon figurines and dueling with an opponent. The goal of the game is to get one of your figures across the board to your opponent's goal before they do. Each figure has different moves and abilities, so building your deck will take some strategy.

In a match, you have a small game board that you are trying to get your Pokemon across in order to reach your opponent's goal. Your opponent is also placing figures to try and stop you from reaching their goal. If while moving your figures you come to one of your opponent's figures, the two figures will duel.

In a duel, you and your opponent spin a wheel. On the wheel are different attacks with different powers, a miss space, and different colored attacks that have different effects. Who ever spins better wins the duel. You keep progressing across the board until you reach your opponent's goal or they reach your goal. Whoever reaches the goal first, wins.

The game uses Pokemon from all of the generations of games so choosing your favorite Pokemon from all the games is going to be possible.

Pokemon Duel is free to play with in-app purchases available for the game's premium currency of gems. You can get the game on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.

Are you going to be playing this game? What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Fully Evolved Starters and MORE Revealed for Pokemon Sun and Moon https://www.gameskinny.com/6xykq/fully-evolved-starters-and-more-revealed-for-pokemon-sun-and-moon https://www.gameskinny.com/6xykq/fully-evolved-starters-and-more-revealed-for-pokemon-sun-and-moon Thu, 27 Oct 2016 07:00:14 -0400 Unclepulky

Pokemon Sun and Moon are fast approaching, but that hasn't stopped Nintendo from releasing more information about the 7th generation of Pokemon games.

While the entire Alolan pokedex was leaked several days ago, we now have confirmation on the names, appearances, types, and ability's  of the starter Pokemon's final evolutions.

The final evolution of Rowlet, shown above, is Decidueye, the Arrow Quill Pokemon. It is a grass/ghost type with the ability Overgrow, and it is also packing an exclusive move, Spirit Shackle. This ghost-type move makes your opponent unable to flee the battle, or in the case of a trainer battle, switch out.

Next, we have the the final evolution of Litten, Incineroar -- who is NOT a fire/fighting type, but rather, a fire/dark type. Incineroar is the Heel Pokemon, it has the ability to Blaze, and like Decidueye, it has an exclusive move.

In this case, the move is Darkest Lariat. This physical dark-type move deals damage to the opponent, ignoring any stat changes made to the enemy Pokemon.

Rounding out the final starter evolutions, we have Primarina, the Soloist Pokemon. A water/fairy type, Primarina has the ability torrent, and as you probably guessed, it has an exclusive move.

This water-type move is known as Sparkling Aria. This attack heals the burns of any target it hits.

In addition to the final evolutions of the starter Pokemon, several other Pokemon were revealed as well. As many expected from Meowth being given an Alolan form, its evolution Persian has one as well.

It's a dark-type with either the ability Technician or Fur Coat. Apparently, Persian is a very popular Pokemon within the Alola region.

Also revealed were three more of the Alola region's guardian deities- Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini. All of them are part fairy-type, with the three being part psychic-type, grass-type, and water-type respectively.

Lele and Bulu's abilities, Psychic Surge and Grassy Surge, are very similar. They both amplify the power of moves of their respective types on the ground, and they each have an extra effect as well. Psychic Surge prevents Pokemon on the ground from being hit by priority moves, while Grassy Surge slightly restores the health of Pokemon on the ground each turn, and also halves damage from the moves: Earthquake, Magnitude, and Bulldoze.

Tapu Fini's ability, Misty Surge, is a bit more unique. It halves the damage taken by Pokemon on the ground from dragon-type moves. It also prevents them from being afflicted with status conditions or confusion.

All of the guardian deities are capable of using the special Z-move, Guardian of Alola. Using this move causes an enormous avatar to rise of the ground, and deal damage to the opponent equal to 75% of their remaining HP.

The last Pokemon revealed was a psychic-type called Cosmog. The Nebula Pokemon was named by the Aether Foundation, and it is very rare. It also has the ability Unaware.

We've also learned that there is currently no Pokemon League in Alola, but one may be under construction. We don't have the details on this yet, but the possibility is there for a very unique end game.

Perhaps the most exciting news from this announcement for long time Pokemon fans was the reveal of the Battle Tree. Here, incredibly powerful trainers, most of whom have completed the Island Challenge, face off.

And among the trainers battling at the Battle Tree are Red and Green (Blue outside of Japan) from the original Pokemon games! But it gets better. In addition to the presence of these two legends, we've also learned that Champion Cynthia, as well as Wally, will also be fighting it out in the Battle Tree.

Which starter will you be choosing? What do you think of the Alolan guardian deities? And are you hyped to be seeing some of the best characters in Pokemon history? Let me know in the comments!

New Pokemon and Trainers Revealed for Pokemon Sun and Moon https://www.gameskinny.com/cewuk/new-pokemon-and-trainers-revealed-for-pokemon-sun-and-moon https://www.gameskinny.com/cewuk/new-pokemon-and-trainers-revealed-for-pokemon-sun-and-moon Fri, 14 Oct 2016 08:18:05 -0400 Synzer

Pokemon Sun and Moon has revealed new evolutions for Pokemon, as well as some new trainers appearing in the game. There were also new Alolan forms showcased in the most recent video, so let's dive right into what's being added.

New Pokemon

Silvally - Normal Type

Pokemon sun and moon Silvally

The first new Pokemon shown is Silvally, which evolves from Type: Null. It has a new ability called RKS System.

  • RKS System - Changes type to correspond with the item it is holding.

There are special items you can make Silvally hold, which is how it changes types with RKS System.

It also has a new move called Multi-Attack. This move changes types based on the item Silvally is holding.

Hackamo-o and Kommo-o - Dragon/Fighting Type

pokemon sun and moon kommo-o

Hackamo-o evolves from Jangmo-o. Kommo-o evolves from Hackamo-o.

Both of these evolutions can have either the Bulletproof or Soundproof abilities, and they have a new move called Clanging Scales.

This looks to be this generation's Dragon evolution chain. This is a tradition that started in the original games with Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite.

Steenee and Tsareena - Grass Type

pokemon sun and moon Tsareena

Steenee evolves from Bounsweet and Tsareena evolves from Steenee.

Tsareena has a new ability called, Queenly Majesty. This stops the opponent from using any priority move. This will be huge in competitive battling. It also has a new move called Trop Kick.

Ribombee - Bug/Fairy Type

Pokemon sun and moon ribombee

This is the evolved form of Cutiefly. There is not much added besides it being an evolution. It has the same abilities, either Honey Gather or Shield Dust, and had no new moves shown.

Alolan Grimer and Muk - Poison/Dark Type

pokemon sun and moon alolan muk

These Alolan forms add a bit more color to these Pokemon, as well as the Dark type.

The new forms store toxins within their body, so you won't smell unpleasant aromas when near them.

New Trainers

Olivia was shown as the Rock type trainer and Kahuna of Akala Island. Each island has a Kahuna that you must defeat in a Grand trial, which is similar to how Gyms were in previous games.

Ilima is Trial Captain that specializes in Normal type Pokemon. Trial Captains are trainers that complete trials recently and act as guides for your character.

That's everything that was recently revealed. Remember to check back at Gameskinny for the latest news and tips on Pokemon Sun and Moon when it launches on November 18th.

New features arrive for Pokemon Sun & Moon: Alola Forms, Z-Moves, New Pokemon and more! https://www.gameskinny.com/2load/new-features-arrive-for-pokemon-sun-moon-alola-forms-z-moves-new-pokemon-and-more https://www.gameskinny.com/2load/new-features-arrive-for-pokemon-sun-moon-alola-forms-z-moves-new-pokemon-and-more Tue, 02 Aug 2016 05:54:22 -0400 Sean Handler

Pokemon Sun & Moon has shown off a variety of new features and Pokemon species thus far, but today a new video was released on the official Pokemon social media channels as well as the Pokemon website detailing a brand-new set of features exclusive to these new games; Alola Forms and Z-Moves.

Here is a video that showcases these new elements:

The first thing we are presented with is the "Alola Forms". These new forms are not just palette swaps of some of your favorite Pokemon -- they get new types as well! For example, Vulpix and its evolved form Ninetales are shown with a brand-new blue appearance and are turned into Ice-type Pokemon.

Then we have some new Pokemon reveals.

Oricorio, a bird Pokemon, comes in four "Styles", with each having a different type set. Oricorio also has a new move, "Revelation Dance" that looks different depending on the Pokemon's style. Oricorio also has the "Dancer" ability which allows it to copy another Pokemon's dance moves!

The next Pokemon shown is Minior, a strange looking Rock/Flying type Pokemon that has the "Shields Down" ability -- which causes it to shed its outer shell to reveal its secondary form, "Minior's Core". It comes in four colors, though the typing remains the same. We also get to see Fomantis, a flowery Grass-type Pokemon and its evolved form Lurantis. Both appear to be based off of tropical flowers in appearance and know the ability Leaf Guard. They also show off a new Grass-type move, Solar Blade.

The final reveals included a new set of evolutions and a primary form for two Pokemon that have already been shown. Gumshoos, the evolved form of Yungoos, is a Pokemon that looks very much like a weasel (or perhaps a certain presidential candidate if the variety of memes are anything to go by). It is a Normal type with a dual set of abilities called Stakeout and Strong Jaw. Our final new Pokemon is Mudbray, the donkey-like (and super cute) primary form of Mudsdale, a giant horse Pokemon. Both are Ground-type with dual abilities Own Tempo and Stamina.

The video also shows off the ability to ride various Pokemon in different environments.

This is game element that we've encountered previously in Pokemon X and Y, but this time we get to ride new Pokemon such as Mudsdale and even Charizard. The other new game elements include a variety of trials unique to the island chain of the Alola region and what appears to be an absence of traditional Gym battles (and possibly even badges) in favor of going up against the "Kahunas" of each island. Players will also be facing new Totem Pokemon, which are essentially stronger versions of the normal variety that are encountered throughout the game. These special Pokemon can also call for help during battle.

The final gameplay element, and definitely the most unique shown, is the Z-Moves.

These special moves are very similar to Mega Evolution in the sense that some kind of item appears to be required for their use and they can only be used once per battle. Each type of Pokemon has a different Z-Move -- and from what the video shows, they are extremely powerful. What is also new to this gameplay element is the dance moves the trainer uses to trigger them,

Overall, these new elements presented in Pokemon Sun and Moon add some much needed variety and refreshment to the Pokemon series as a whole. It changes the game and breaks the standard mold of defeating Gym leaders to give way to a new system entirely. We have yet to see if there is a new villain team for this entry to the series, but if the other Pokemon games are any indication, there will most likely be one revealed eventually. Whether or not these new features will be welcome or disdained has yet to be determined, but they certainly add something new to the mix.

Excited for the new gameplay features and Pokemon? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Niantic CEO Drops Hints about Pokemon GO https://www.gameskinny.com/p4d4g/niantic-ceo-drops-hints-about-pokemon-go https://www.gameskinny.com/p4d4g/niantic-ceo-drops-hints-about-pokemon-go Mon, 25 Jul 2016 06:15:32 -0400 JessDambach

Niantic CEO John Hanke, the head honcho of Pokemon GO, happened to be at the San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday to give us hints as to what we will be seeing in the future of Pokemon GO.

Here are 5 things Hanke revealed in a conversation with a reporter at Comic-Con:

Sorry about the servers

Hanke told us Niantic's servers "weren't provisioned for what happened" and the popularity, and that the company's engineers are working on keeping the servers up and reliable before they add new features. They're working on fixing details like the Pokemon radar system, too.

Rare Pokemon are coming

"There are some rare ones that haven't showed up yet that will be showing up."

Only 145 out of the total 151 Pokemon have been accounted for by players worldwide right now, so more to come.

Your team will be more important

Pokemon teams — Team Instinct (Yellow), Team Valor (Red), and Team Mystic (Blue) — have one of the three Legendary Bird Pokemon as their mascot, and that may play into which of the birds players can catch. Hanke said:

"They're kinda aligned with the teams, and we might have something to announce about the teams soon."

Plus, the leaders of each team will be giving out advice to players soon too.

Turning Pokéstops into Pokemon Centers

Hanke hints some  Pokestops can turn into Pokemon Centers, where you can heal your Pokemon.

Players haven't found everything:  Pokemon Go players have discovered that giving an Eevee the name of "Pyro," "Rainer," or "Sparky" will ensure that it evolves into Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon. Hanke says there are plenty more little secrets like that which players haven't found.

Hanke confirmed Pokemon trading coming to the game, as said previously. Right now, players are hitting the limits of this mobile game, as Nick Johnson caught all 142 Pokemon available in the US. I wander what else they have up their sleeve for the future of this game.
