Before you can enter any of these cheats, you need to start up your game and be on either Manage Worlds or in play or build mode. Once you’re off the menu, you can open your cheat console.

How to Turn Cheats On

To open the cheat console, press Ctrl + Shift + C on the PC or press all bumpers and triggers simultaneously on the Xbox. You should see a white bar at the top left of your screen. With this open, you can type in the white bar to enter different cheat codes. However, before they will work, you will need to enable cheats. To do so, type in the cheats console: testingcheats true. You should see a message pop up immediately after stating that the cheats have been enabled.

Now that cheats are turned on, you can start entering the cheat codes for some money. You can enter several different types of codes, including some disguised as particular phrases. Depending on how much money you might like, here are the ones you can enter right into the cheat console (they can be case-sensitive, so make sure to type them exactly as shown):

rosebud$1,000
kaching$1,000
motherlode$50,000
Money X (Fill in X with the amount you want, e.g. 100000, no dollar sign or comma)
FreeRealEstate OnHomes and plots are all free

Most money cheats will only apply to your current active household. The only exception to this is the FreeRealEstate cheat, which will make every house or plot free for all sims in your current world. If you want to give other sims money, you’ll need to take control of them and enter the cheat code for them as well.

These money cheats won’t affect any other aspects of the game, only the amount currently in the household account. Sims can still earn money through their jobs and use the money regularly to pay for things in the world. You can use the cheats multiple times to continue raising your balance as much as you’d like.

There’s nothing wrong with using some cheats sometimes to give you a little boost. The money cheats in particular are a great way to give your sims a headstart in their lives ahead. If they’re struggling to pay for that mortgage or rent, you can just add a bit of cash in to cover it. No harm, no foul!
