How to Get Spell Energy in Harry Potter Wizards Unite

Without spell energy, you can't do much in Wizards Unite. But how do you get more spell energy? This guide tells you what to do.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is finally out. You’ll trace spells and track down escaped creatures that have broken loose in the muggle world. To do that, though, you need spell energy. But once you’re out, how do you increase it and get more?

Spell energy is only acquired in a handful of ways. While most of the AR “battles” in this game only take one SE to complete, some will take up to a whopping 10 at a time, so you’ll need to find ways to regularly acquire more if you plan to play for extended periods of time.

Wizards Unite Spell Energy Recharge Methods

Wizards Unite daily login reward screenMuch like acquiring poke balls at poke stops in Pokemon Go, you still need to get an energy recharge at real-world locations, as running out essentially means you can’t play any longer.

SE is offered for free every few days at the daily login reward screen and sometimes found as a reward for completing daily assignments

To find the assignments, tap the Calendar icon at the bottom right corner of the screen and see what’s available.

These will usually involve casting spells to return a certain number of Foundables, or picking up a certain number of potion ingredients while traveling around with your phone. If you’re looking for a bit of exercise, there are usually also daily assignments for walking a specific distance each day.

Of course, you can also buy extra SE with real-world money via the S.O.S pack (just tap the present icon in the upper right corner to open up the Diagon Alley menu), but let’s avoid that option for now.

Getting More Spell Energy for Free

A more reliable, free, and fun way to get what you need is by getting off the couch and heading into your local community to find Inns and Greenhouses.

Unfortunately, this method can be less helpful for people in rural areas, as you may have to travel a significant distance to find reliable Inn locations. In my case, the nearest one is about half a mile from my apartment, so it’s a bit of a hike without getting in the car.

Visit as many landmarks, businesses, or other points of interest in your area as possible to find Inns.

Once at an Inn, trace the wizard mark at the bottom of the screen to get rewards, which typically include SE.

How to check remaining spell energy in Wizards UniteWant to maximize farming? Find an area that has several Inns that you can walk on a loop. Inns reset every five minutes, so you can go back and hit the first Inn on the loop again after your five-minute walk.

These Inn loop locations will vary between towns, but can often be found in places like state parks or anywhere with a large number of statues or businesses in a line.

Energy can also be randomly acquired from Greenhouses when you select a potted plant, but you’ll find less overall spell energy this way, so Inns are really the way to go for reliable energy recharge.

Checking Your Stores

Not sure where to see how much spell energy you currently have? Its sort of hidden in a weird, out of the way location when you first start out.

Tap the Suitcase icon at the bottom middle part of your phone, then tap the Vault. Up above the potions options you should see your current and max energy in the top-left corner. It also displays when you access the Diagon Alley store screen.
