Although you can randomly find weapons in the open world in HD2, there’s actually a strategic way to acquire extra weapons in the game. I’ll provide you with tips on how to unlock more weapons in Helldivers 2, including missions, extractions, and personal orders.
How to Farm Medals to Unlock More Weapons in Helldivers 2
The best way to unlock more weapons in Helldivers 2 is to earn Medals. They function as a special currency for purchasing Warbonds in the “Acquisitions” menu. These Warbonds include new weapons that I can equip at the Armory of any battleship.
Complete Blitz and Eliminate Missions
But how do I get these Medals? Well, there are several options, actually, which I cover below. One of the easiest and fastest ways to farm Medals and Warbonds is to complete the “Blitz: Search and Destroy” and Eliminate-type missions.
- “Blitz: Search and Destroy” is a team mission that takes up to 12 minutes to complete. All you need to do here is destroy all Terminid structures to earn my Medals quickly.
- Eliminate missions are longer, giving you 40 minutes to finish, but I can also do them solo. There are four missions total of this type:
- Eliminate Brood Commander (Terminid Faction).
- Eliminate Charger (Terminid Faction).
- Eliminate Automaton Hulk (Automaton Faction).
- Eliminate Automaton Devastator (Automaton Faction).
Successfully Extract Each Time
Note that it’s also important to successfully extract at the end of each mission. Each successful extraction adds up to the total number of Medals earned after you complete these missions. Please follow these tips to extract properly from each mission:
- Make sure that you haven’t failed any mission objectives but have completed them.
- Wait for the extraction beacon to land.
- Press the “M” or “TAB” keys to open the map.
- Search for a white arrow that indicates the extraction zone.
- Make sure that all Helldivers arrive at the beacon for maximum rewards.
- Trigger the extraction process by inputting six randomized directional inputs.
- Enter the shuttle once it arrives for a successful extraction.
Lastly, if at least one Helldiver from your squad is missing on the shuttle, it’ll wait for about 20 seconds and leave without them. The extraction will still be considered successful in this case, but the rewards will be reduced.
Grind Personal Orders
Personal Orders are daily missions that you can complete to earn even more Medals. These are basically various tasks that reroll every day, so be sure to check them frequently in the “Personal Orders” menu. The tasks at hand may include the following challenges:
- Eliminate a certain number of enemies.
- Extract a specific number of times.
- Complete an objective within a time limit.
All these orders are viable for farming Medals within the 24-hour timeframe. I highly recommend doing these tasks with a squad of teammates, as it not only significantly speeds up the completion rate of each order but also guarantees that you complete it. For me personally, there’s nothing more annoying than when I can’t finish a task before the time limit’s over.
Another thing I must stress is the importance of completing the “Secondary Objectives” within each order. Once again, these objectives may vary, but if you put in the effort and complete them in time, they’ll add a hefty number of Medals to your character.
