Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Where to Find Applin, Flapple, and Appletun

Here's where to find Applin, Flapple, and Appletun in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet offer up a host of brand-new Pokemon in addition to a long list of familiar faces from past entries. This includes the Applin line introduced in Generation 8. The pint-sized Grass/Dragon-type Pokemon and its evolutions are available in both current generation titles. Here’s how to get Applin, Flapple, and Appletun.

The best place to find Applin in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in between Zapapico and The Great Crater of Pladea. Flapple and Appletun are evolutions of Applin. I go into greater detail for each below, including the food you’ll need to seek out.

How to Get Applin in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Applin can be found in multiple areas throughout Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but it’s easiest to find in a small grove nestled between Zapapico and The Great Crater of Paldea, indicated by the flagged destination point on the above map. On my own playthrough, I found this was the best place to find several spawns at once — which is a huge plus when shiny hunting.

While you’d need to ride on either Koraidon or Miraidon and dash into a tree to encounter Applin in other locations, the Grass/Dragon-type can be found on the ground of the wooded basin here. Just keep your eyes peeled, or you may overlook the miniature dragon Pokemon.

How to Get Flapple

Unlike many other fully evolved species in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Flapple can’t be found in the wild. However, you can easily evolve any Applin you’ve caught to obtain Flapple, which maintains its Grass/Dragon typing despite developing wings. To complete the process, you’ll just need to give your Applin a Tart Apple. The Pokemon’s level won’t affect the evolution process, so feel free to give it the necessary item whenever you feel is best.

How to Get Appletun

Similarly, Appletun can’t be found roaming about in the wild in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Instead, you’ll need to evolve an Applin you’ve caught to add Appletun to your Pokedex. To do this, give Applin a Sweet Apple and allow the evolution to take place. Again, the Pokemon’s level will have no effect on its evolution, so you can start the evolution process at any time you wish.

Where to Find Tart Apples and Sweet Apples in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Both Tart Apples and Sweet Apples can be obtained in Tagtree Thicket in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Housing the Poison-type Team Star Base, this location is full of items to find on the ground, so you should manage to pick up both kinds of apples in no time.

Alternatively, you can also buy Tart Apples and Sweet Apples for 2,200 Poke Dollars each at Delibird Presents locations. Of course, you’ll need at least three gym badges to do this, so I recommend weighing your options according to the progress you’ve made in the game.

And that’s where to find Applin, Flapple, and Aplletun in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. For more on available Pokemon and items, check out our guides collection.
