Our guide will not only provide you with tips on how to unlock the true ending in Sonic Frontiers, but also show you how to beat the secret final boss.

How to Unlock True Ending

The key to unlocking the true ending in Sonic Frontiers is straightforward: you simply need to finish the game in Hard Mode.

Fortunately, you don’t need to play the whole game in Hard Mode. You can just switch to Hard before collecting the last Chaos Emerald at the Ouranos Island.

If you do everything right, the game will keep going after you fight the first Final Boss, and the true ending with the secret boss fight will be unlocked.

How to Beat True Final Boss

The true final boss of Sonic Frontiers is simply called The End. The entire battle is designed as a 2D space shooter against a dark planetoid.

Sonic in his Super Sonic form can use two types of projectiles to defeat The End: Light Shots and Dark Shots. You can also avoid The End’s own projectiles by pressing up, down, left, or right.

But there is a much faster way of defeating The End, and all you need to do is follow these tips:

  • Counter The End’s shots with your own: Once the boss shoots his Dark Shots, use your own Dark Shots against his. The same applies to Light Shots.
  • Discharge a laser at The End: If you counter his shots enough times correctly, then your laser gauge will start filling up. Then, you can discharge a powerful laser at The End, dealing massive damage to his health.

Repeat these two actions as many times as needed, and once The End’s HP pool drops below 10%, a short custcene with a simple QTE action will follow. Then, you can be sure that the game is truly over.

That’s all you need to know about the true ending and final boss in Sonic Frontiers. If you were looking for a guide on how to light speed dash in Sonic Frontiers, then follow the provided link, or head over to our Frontiers guide hub for more.
