The Front: How to Get Crude Oil

The Front will have you hunting high and low for resources like Crude Oil. You’ll need it to fulfill an initial task quest, but the game won’t give you any hints about where to find it. Thankfully, we’ve got all you need to know about how to get Crude Oil here in our guide.

How to Get Crude Oil in The Front

You’ll need Crude Oil to get machinery up and running. However, the resource is tricky to come by and some methods are better than others. Late game, you can craft the ingredient yourself, but early on you’ll need to rely on resource gathering. Here’s what you need to do:

• Using a Manual Miner.
  • RNG-based, and time consuming. It can take a while to gather a substantial amount.

• Digging up piles of dirt.
  • Large piles of dirt that are found throughout the map.
  • Requires a Stone Shovel.
    • x2 Wood, x2 Stone, x3 Rope

If you’re searching for Crude Oil for the collection task, you’ll need to use the digging method. Unfortunately, mounds can be hard to find and don’t respawn as frequently as other resources. While the Manual Miner will not count towards the task goal, it’s the most reliable method from the comfort of your base.

Crude Oil is used for the Polymer recipe, which is required for many high-tech recipes. You can find all advanced recipes that use Polymer under the Tech Tree, and in your crafting menu. I recommend you check the Tech Tree frequently to make sure you’re unlocking all available recipes.
