Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Dark Echelons Guide — Best Choices to Make

Is your working class on a strike? Our Dark Echelons choice guide in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader can help.

After the Eurac V quest, a worker’s strike event called Dark Echelons will start on your ship, and you’ll be called to deal with it. Your choices will have consequences for the workers on your vessel and your Conviction. Here’s our Dark Echelons choice guide for Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

The quest will start with the officer Avrilla Vent approaching you on the bridge with Abelard in tow. Choosing the “How did all this start?” dialogue option makes her describe a worker’s strike caused by a discovered heretic amulet and Abelard’s strict and violent response, where his men have put the working class into harsh living conditions.

I would highly recommend choosing the dialog option, “I’ve heard enough. I will go down to the lower decks and deal with the problem personally.” Don’t ignore it, as you’ll both get a Conviction rank increase and improve your relationship with the working class and Abelard.

You’ll descend to Depot 4, where a worker will throw refuse at Abelard for his treatment of the masses. Speaking of which, Abelard will judge your ruling capabilities and competence in this quest, so make sure to never ask for his opinion and always follow your gut (or this guide).

You now explore and find Avrilla Vent in the far corner of Depot 4 across the hall of platforms. Let her know that you wish to address the workers yourself and solve the problem by progressing the dialogue with the workers diplomatically and choose the “Tell me what is troubling you. Why are you striking?” option.

Next, do the following:

  • Ask about the amulet.
  • Listen to them calmly and ask, “What changes do you want?”
  • I highly recommend choosing the Coercion option.
  • Choose to stop the persecution and ignore Abelard’s input.

This will peacefully solve the problem and improve your reputation with the working class, increasing your Iconoclast rank.

Dark Echelon Ending Choices

As the quest ends, Abelard will approach you alone, inquiring about your reasoning and decisions and testing your leadership capabilities. I recommend standing behind your decisions and not yielding to options like “I’ll listen to you next time Abelard.” These are the best decisions in this dialogue:

  • “I would be only too willing to trust…”
  • Then, “Theodora trusted in established procedures — and she died…”

This will calm Abelard down and make him respect your authority in the future. These choices will complete the Dark Echelons event in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader.
