When is Ranked Play Coming to MW3? Answered

If you want to know when Ranked play is coming to MW3, here's the answer.

Racking up kills and fragging noobs in casual multiplayer matches is all well and good, but showing off your K/D and rising above other players isn’t as tangible as it is when leaderboards are involved. If you’re here, you’re wondering — like I was — when Ranked play is coming to MW3.

Why is Ranked Play Unavailable in CoD: Modern Warfare 3?

The official Call of Duty FAQ first announced the official launch of the multiplayer Ranked play mode during the Season 1 mid-season. During the Call of Duty NEXT streaming event, Greg Reisdorf, Multiplayer Creative Director at Sledgehammer, said the following:

[We’ll] update it, modernize it from Modern Warfare 2, bring that forward. Then for Season 1.5, mid-season one, we’ll have it out, and that’s when it’s going to launch.

After doing a little more digging (because there’s just not much readily available on the subject), I found another release on the official Call of Duty site that reveals the mid-season will drop the Reloaded content update, which is set for sometime in January 2024. That’s when I, and most players, expect the multiplayer Ranked play mode to drop. Though we don’t have a firm date, it could be — and this is purely speculation —  sometime between January 25-28, during the Boston Breach CDL.

What is MW3 Ranked Play? What Maps and Mode Will be Available?

MW3 Ranked play provides players with a stand-alone competitive environment where they can track their progress and earn rewards for a spot in the Top 250 Leaderboard of the Call of Duty League. On top of that, Ranked play will feature the following maps and modes:

  • Hardpoint: Invasion, Karachi, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal.
  • Search & Destroy: Highrise, Invasion, Karachi, Skidrow, Terminal.
  • Control: Highrise, Invasion, Terminal.

I can’t wait to try this mode out! It promises to be even more competitive than any other ranked mode in the past. The exclusive rewards, although not revealed yet, should be highly enticing. This will definitely prompt players to really push their gameplay prowess to its limits.

Hopefully, this quick rundown answered your question of when Ranked play will be coming to MW3. Stay tuned for more CoD MW3 tips and tricks articles, including how to get Penetration kills, how to get ADS Fully Loaded kills, and how many kills constitute a multikill.
