WoW: Dragonflight Breaking Ground Quest Guide

Breaking Ground is the start of Embers of Neltharion in WoW: Dragonflight, and here's how to complete it.

You’ll complete the “Breaking Ground” chapter in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight with the latest update to the campaign in Patch 10.1 “Embers of Neltharion.” The new section of the campaign is divided into seven sections that take you through Zaralek Cavern as you learn more about the Black Dragonflight and its former Aspect, Neltharion.

Complete Breaking Ground Quest List

“Breaking Ground” is the name of the first chapter of “Embers of Neltharion,” and it consists of a set of quests that act as an introduction to the new area, Zaralek Cavern, and what to expect from the story that takes place there. It also introduces us to Loamm and the Niffen.

I was able to dive right into “Breaking Ground” when I logged in after the Patch 10.1 update, but if you haven’t completed “A Creche Divided” in the Forbidden Reach from the previous patch, you won’t be able to start “Breaking Ground” yet.

If you’ve completed “A Creche Divided,” you’ll begin “Breaking Ground” in Valdrakken with a quest titled “The Land Beneath.” The set of campaign quests that make up this first chapter are as follows:

  • The Land Beneath
  • News from Beneath
  • A Crack in the World
  • Where the Flames Fell
  • Scar of Earth and Fire
  • The Patience of Princes
  • It Was Not Enough
  • Culling the Deep
  • Niffen and Goliath
  • Brother’s Keeper
  • Secrets from our Father
  • The Earth Gives Way
  • Smells Like Loamm
  • Welcome to the City of Smells
  • Orientation: Loamm NIffen
  • Six Hundred Feet Under

Once you complete “Six Hundred Feet Under,” you’ll see a progress update for the achievement “Embers of Neltharion” that says “Breaking Ground.” When you see this come up, you have successfully finished the first chapter of the new campaign.
