Getting the Winding Slitherdrake is fairly simple, since you’ll earn it from going through the “Embers of Neltharion” campaign. The Winding Slitherdrake is a reward for completing “Inherited Sin,” the fourth chapter of the campaign.

Before you can start “Inherited Sin,” you have to complete:

• A Creche Divided
• Breaking Grounds
• Sundered Legacy
• The Ancient Bargain

All of these storylines can be done now so that you’ll be able to grab the next chapter right away on May 9 when it’s available.

Then, all you need to do is go through the 10 quests that make up “Inherited Sin” to earn the Winding Slitherdrake as a quest reward at the end of the chapter.

I’ve picked up manuscripts for Winding Slitherdrake customizations by doing side quests in Loamm, even though the mount itself is not yet in the game, so this is an option for passing your time before May 9. That way you’re not only ready to earn the mount, but you’re also ready to change up its style right away.
