Sea of Thieves Treasure For Eternity Commendation Guide

The Treasure For Eternity Commendation is one of the more difficult ones to get in Sea of Thieves. Here's how to get it.

As you adventure through the Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life expansion alongside your new friend, Captain Jack Sparrow, you may find yourself hunting for Commendations. One of the more obscure, yet interesting, Commendations is the Treasure For Eternity.

Commendations can guide you towards some easy-to-miss side stories, and completing all of them can lead to some new unlockable gear for your pirate. The Treasure For Eternity Commendation requires you to take several steps off the beaten path but is well worth your time.

It has a story of its own, and it takes you through areas you would otherwise have no reason to visit. Here is everything you need to know to complete this Commendation.

How to Get the Treasure For Eternity Commendation

You get this Commendation during the Captains of the Damned Tall Tale. You will need to complete the first two Tall Tales in order to unlock this one.

In it, you and your ship will go through a portal to retrace the steps of Jack Sparrow, in hopes of retrieving him to aid your cause. You will pass through a haunted bayou, and a ghostly fort with its own obscure commendation, before finally arriving at a town.

On the path into the town, you will come across a person being dunked into a well. Sitting on the back of the well is the Mercado Key. Snatch that and continue forward. You will be following the Ghost of Jack Sparrow through a few buildings as he makes his way through the town.

Soon you will come to a town square. There will be a building with a large Mercado sign on the front.

Circle around to the right of the building to find a locked door. Unlock it with the key and proceed up some stairs.

At the top of the stairs, there will be a torch outside a window. Light that using your lantern (which will be lit with the Flame of Souls during your progression through the tall tales).

To the left of the window is an open box/chest. Close it to reveal a note detailing the plans of a couple of villagers to hide their belongings for safekeeping.

The Skeleton’s Rowboat

You’re halfway through getting the Treasure For Eternity Commendation. Exit the building, circling to your right past the crowd at the auction. Straight ahead to the left is a small dock with a rowboat, and a couple of skeletons.

Jump in (the skeletons won’t mind), grab the oars, and follow the canal. A ghostly rowboat will appear and lead you.

Very soon, you will come to a locked gate. Jump out and go through an opening to the right. Inside you will find a pulley to open the gate, allowing you to continue further down the canal.

Eventually, the ghost rowboat will pull over to the left side of the canal, and you will see a memory of ghosts digging.

Dig in that spot to retrieve the valuables from the note. Take it back to the rowboat, and “give” it to one of your skeleton friends.

Returning their belongings unlocks the Treasure For Eternity Commendation. Congrats! Helping them almost makes up for all the other skeletons you have smashed over the years.

Completing the Treasure For Eternity Commendation puts you one step closer to finishing off the Captain of Haunted Waters Commendation, which requires all the Captains of the Damned Commendations to be completed. This will reward you with some ghost-themed musical instruments, nice treat for your trouble.

This is just one of many things to do in the New Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life update.
