You'll need to refuel your campfire in Stranded Deep if you mean to survive. Here's how to do it.

Campfires in Stranded Deep are used for light and, more importantly, cooking fish, crab, and other delicious meat. If you mean to survive the desolate island life, you’ll need to keep your campfire fueled, whether its lit or not.

How to Refuel Your Campfire in Stranded Deep

To keep your fire going, you’ll need wood sticks. Initially, you can find wood sticks lying on the ground. But after you’ve picked them all up on your first island, you’ll need more. As far as I can tell, they don’t respawn on the ground.

Luckily, there are other immediate sources of fuel on your island: ficus trees and palm trees

Ficus Trees

These trees have three thin trunks coming up out of the ground. You can chop them down with the stone cutting tool, the knife, or the axe. You’ll get 3 wood sticks for your efforts.

Palm Trees

Palm trees must be cut down with the axe. First, chop down the tree. Once it’s on the ground, chop the trunk with the axe. It will eventually break into two separate pieces. Now, chop each piece until it breaks apart into 4 wood sticks

Refuel the Campfire

You’ll need 4 wood sticks to refill a completely empty campfire. You must equip the sticks from your inventory; they won’t automatically come out of your inventory. You will know that your campfire is completely empty because it will say “Empty Fire” when you look at it.

Simply walk up to the campfire with the wood sticks equipped and press and hold

  • E” on PC
  • Square” on PS4
  • X” on Xbox One

The campfire will refill in 1/4 increments, with a white circle filling in around the flame icon on the fire. Once the white circle is completely filled, use kindling (2x wood stick) to light it.

You can refill your campfire by adding wood sticks before it runs out of propellant. Simply walk up to it with the wood sticks in hand and press “E”/”Square”/”X”. You don’t need to hold it.

And that’s it on how to refuel your empty campfire in Stranded Deep. For more on the deep-sea survival game, be sure to check out our other content on the game, including how to craft a speargun and how to find clay, among many others!
