The crafting recipe for fish trap is quite simple, but there are a few important details when it comes to placing and setting up the fish trap.
Fish Trap Crafting and Bait Guide
Step 1: Craft a Fish Trap
Before crafting a fish trap you will need to collect the following materials:
- 2x Lashing
- 2x Rock
- 6x Stick
Then, follow these steps to craft a fish trap:
- Open the game’s menu
- Select “Crafting” tab
- Select “Hunting” option
- Choose “Fish Trap”
If you have all the required materials, the fish trap will spawn right in front of you.
Step 2: Place a Fish Trap
When you have the fish trap ready, use the L2/LT buttons on consoles or right mouse button on PC to drag the trap into the water.
If you want to catch a bigger fish, which is recommended, then you need to place the trap under the water as far away from the shore as possible. Just don’t forget where you left it.
The deeper the water, the bigger your catches. Keep that in mind when placing your traps.
Step 3: Set Up a Trap
Previously, players needed to put bait inside the fish trap to catch fish. However, the developer has removed this necessity in the latest build of the game, and all you need to do is simply set up the trap once you’ve placed it in the desired location.
When you’re ready to set up a trap, approach it and press the “E” key on PC, the square button on PS4, or the X on Xbox One.
You can use the same keys/buttons to dismantle the trap in case you want to change its location.
