Honkai Star Rail: How to Complete the Fleeting Lights Quest

Wishing for something more challenging from Honkai Star Rail? You'll want to beat this quest first.

Honkai Star Rail adds in a lot of different mechanics and modes as you progress, some of which are introduced through quests first. One of the most important modes is called Forgotten Hall, and it starts with an Adventure Mission (side quest) of all things. Here’s everything you need to know about how to complete the Fleeting Lights quest in Honkai Star Rail and what it leads to.

The Fleeting Lights quest will appear after you’ve reached Trailblaze Level 21. Aside from all of the progress and potential grinding needed to reach this point, you’ll also have to take on the first Trial of Equilibrium before you can properly raise your Trailblaze Level past 20.

Once you’ve made it to the appropriate level, you’ll receive a message from an uneasy Pom-Pom who senses there’s something on the Astral Express. The end of this conversation will add the Adventure Mission and direct you back to the Parlor Car.

Once you arrive, you’ll be treated to a cutscene of Pom-Pom looking visibly uncomfortable. Talk to them and they’ll ask you to locate the strange occurrence that seems to have come on to the Express.

From this point in Fleeting Lights, you can scrutinize a few different objects. You can also talk to Welt and Himiko, both of whom haven’t noticed whatever Pom-Pom senses. You’re actually looking for the strange broken mirror just to the right of Himeko.

Interact with it to pique the Trailblazer’s interest. You’ll then have the choice to investigate it further or ask the other passengers about the mirror. They’ll remark that they don’t see a mirror. Unless you want to hear some unique lines, you can go ahead with investigating it.

Doing so will cause a Messenger from the Garden of Recollection to walk through it. They’ll explain that you’re the only one who can see them and that they’d like to copy some of your memories. Their method of doing this is through the Forgotten Hall, which they’ll then invite you to clear the first Memory Stage for.

The Forgotten Hall Explained

The Forgotten Hall is a series of challenges with strong enemies and unique objectives. Each has a Memory Turbulence mechanic, which acts as a modifier. Some increase a particular damage type for your allies, for example.

They progressively become harder, and eventually, you’ll unlock the very difficult Memory of Chaos stages. These endgame-level challenges are a big reason why we include the Forgotten Hall in our Honkai Star Rail F2P Schedule Guide.

To complete the Fleeting Lights quest, you only need to beat the first Memory Stage. It consists of the following enemies, all at Level 32:

  • Baryon
  • Antibaryon
  • Voidranger: Distorter
  • Voidranger: Reaver
  • Voidranger: Trampler
Recommended Types and Characters

The battle is split into two waves. The recommended Types to bring are Imaginary, Wind, and Physical. A Wind-based character is especially vital since the Memory Turbulence for this stage increases Wind damage from allies by 50%.

This first stage isn’t too difficult, so try to fill in the roles with characters you enjoy playing. If you’re looking to win this with a team of only free characters, I highly recommend using Dan Heng and the Trailblazer to fulfill the Wind and Physical roles. Natasha can also be used to provide healing support and put in some Physical damage of her own.

The final spot on the team can go to Serval or March 7th, as either one will help with a specific enemy. While Serval provides attacks that hit multiple enemies, March 7th can generate a shield to protect allies once the Voidranger: Trampler has locked on with Spiral Arrow.

Recommended Strategies

Unless you’re severely under-leveled, this shouldn’t be too difficult of a fight. Have as many characters as possible use their Techniques before the battle starts and then prioritize attacks according to enemy weaknesses.

Use Dan Heng’s Skill and Ultimate whenever possible to inflict major damage. Prepare accordingly to the previously mentioned Spiral Arrow ability, and there’s a good chance you’ll beat this with plenty of cycles to spare.

Does the Choice in Fleeting Lights Matter?

Finish the stage, and you’ll return to the Astral Express. The Messenger will ask you to keep their existence a secret from the other passengers. You can choose to tell them the truth, but the choice has no effect. The Messenger will simply erase their memories. Either way, the quest will be complete after you’ve finished speaking with the crew.

How to Unlock Forgotten Hall in Honkai Star Rail

Once the mission is over, you can return to the mirror whenever you want and take on the stages within the Forgotten Hall. Unless you’re looking to farm the cycling rewards for the Memory of Chaos stages, you’re free to take on the first 15 Memory stages at your own pace.

That covers how to complete the Fleeting Lights quest in Honkai Star Rail and unlock the Forgotten Hall. Looking for more tips and tricks? Whether it’s the best PC Graphics and Performance Settings or how to use the Memory Bubbles, our collection of Honkai Star Rail guides can help.
